Radical rethink of open wheel design

THAT is gorgeous. Man oh man I'd love to see a bunch of those flying around the track.

I love that its JR. He is one smart dude that deserves another 500 seat.

The number 66 on that car is apropos; with that squared off nose, it definitely has a '60's vibe.
I like the look, especially the way the designer resolved the canopy, and I hope something like this shows the way forward, especially if sponsors don't revolt from the missing billboards. Not lost on me, the fact that the lead photo shows the car in opposite lock around a corner which is exactly what my lizard brain assumes will happen if the rear wing falls off. (I get it, cars of the future will have technology to combat this but a lifetime of winged race cars creates a perception of vehicle dynamics in my mind.) Ferrari designed a similar sidepod shape back in the '90's. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759365864.jpg |
That's an awesome looking car!

Did we forget "Form follows function" ???

He's also a Porschephile. At the last Rennsport, I saw a guy in a driving suit and thought, "hey, that looks a lot like JR Hildebrand," only to find put later that he was actually driving in the event.

Why cant they look like torpedos like in the 60s?
