I'll bolt it to the trunk lid if I have to, or put it in the back seat.
A pump and a plug kit are already going with on the trip. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763090292.jpg Life was easier on our 2018 trip to Maine. We took a 2009 Impala, had the regular spare plus a 5th full size wheel and tire, plus another unmounted tire in the trunk, and still room for all the wife's stuff. That really was the ideal traveling salesman's car. It got over 30mpg on the interstate as well. |
If you get a tire bag you can put the spare anywhere.
For what it’s worth, Tire Rack has 17” options starting at about $150 each. Pretty cheap for new if you get tired of shopping the online garage sale.:) Also they have a visualizer tool so no need for a poll or AI! |

Merican Racing
On my truck. Do I think they are a good value? Nope. They are proud of these. But, they do look good. Only bought them because they had that specific spoke profile I wanted. Heavy as hell too.
Next round will be different. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763149630.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763149987.jpg |

I have some American Racing Torque Thrusts on my 1966 Mustang as well.

Whatever wheels I end up with, I'm going to need new lug nuts. Ford had the fine idea of capping their lugs with some sort of thin chrome or aluminum or something, and corrosion gets in, and it swells, and you can't get a socket on the lugs. I ended up hammering on the 21mm to each lug on the back, taking it off, then putting the socket in the vise so I could hammer out the lug nut. Lucky the Mustang still has 1/2 inch wheel studs, so it has some trailer lug nuts on it now. The left front had aftermarket lug nuts, 19mm instead of 21mm. The right rear nuts were somewhere between 250 and 400 ft lbs of torque. Had to use a pipe on one of them. At least the stud didn't break.
But hey, the brake fluid is flushed. The stuff in there wasn't too dark but I have no idea the last time it was done. The stock wheels have Ohtsu tires. Never heard of them. Looks like they're owned by Sumitomo, so I guess they're Japanese and not Chinese. |

It would be pretty hard to find a USA car that torque thrusts wouldn't look good on...
|
They're the American Fuchs.

I've always like the Cragar style wheels on classic American cars.
I think it's because of my Hot wheel cars as a kid. |

Go with gorilla lug nuts. When I installed these wheels on my 14 F150, I used the Gorilla’s.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763433903.jpg My favorite wheel pattern. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763433944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763433944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763433944.jpg |
Hey Randy, that’s a pretty badass short bed flare side Chevy you’ve got there!

Thank you!
