Pete: I feel compelled to respond to your response:
You're correct to notice that when all the flaming is put aside, car guys pretty much sound alike. That's when we become more of a community. I can say the Camaro is a fine automobile on its own, and yes, the generalization of Camaro owners being toothless rednecks is completely improper. When I was a kid, the neighbor across the street drove a mid-70s Z/28. He was, to say the least, anything but redneck, as this guy was a star student at Arizona State University, and slated to inherit his father's Hollywood-based advertising firm. I think most people on this board know the general makeup of any car owner cannot be supported with generalizations. The person who started the post on the Camaro and Pelican board and ridiculed the Porsche owners, has long-since apologized. And I think those he offended are now trying to help out his situation. Hence, everyone's trying to get along. If anyone should be a snob, I believe it's the guys with the 60s muscle cars: ironically I asked a friend about the price of a nice '69 Z/28. At $50,000, I'm not asking anymore. :( Believe it or not, the price of the Camaro starts to get into RS Carrera territory. |
3 words spring to mind
"wot a to55er" There's a lot of good advise here and some joking. "dont let the door hit ya ass on the way out" |
I registered on that board only to reply to this wa*ker, heres my reply
<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Hey, dshane, you are whats commonly known as an "ass half", it takes two of you to be an ass "whole". Let me tell you, that there are a load of crap boards out there and believe me that Pelican and (to the most parts) its users are not. The generalisations I've read in this thread are beyond comprehension. "Porsche" owners are the same as any other car guy's. you get all sorts of appreciation and tech know how. from the, I know how to change a tire, but the main dealer does my service all the way to a I can strip and mod an engine before breakfast. Just because some people are'nt rocket sciencetists when it comes to Porsches or like to have a joke dont assume that people or a board is "stupid" or "unhelpful" I've been a member for a few years and have had good advice, jokes, the odd bit of rubbish. Its all part of the game. Take your Porsche into a backstreet mechanics and see if they'll give you good advice or try and rip you off ??? A little bit of free advice, one of the replies suggested about "driving" your car. There's actually a lot of truth in it. Keeping your car to rot, errrm to show. Does not do it any favours. A Porsche as any car has to be driven, certainly till the engine reaches opertaing tempreature. You will certainly have more problems letting it sit there. HAd you tried some of the suggestions or quiried them ? There is as iv'e found out a "porsche" way to do things and "any car" way to do it. I suggest next time you ask a question participate in the thread instead of running of a crying like a little ***** to any other board that wants to hear your wimpering. BTW, I only joined this BBS to reply to this thread, dont bother replying as I wont be hear again, catch me on Rennlist, Pelican, Tipec and NotJustPOrsche boards Peace |
