All these pictures are really good. We adopted Sopie the Weimaraner when she was about 3 years old. Our son Hayden loves dogs. He's in heaven when we dogsit my parent's Golden Lucy.

I didn't like that. This is a dog friendly household, and we have good dogs. If you bring your kids over, they will be licked by dogs and they will get dog hair on their socks. Such is life.

I've seen more trouble with kids & cats.

There's some kind of rule in my house that says whenever I take my camera out back and point it at a car, the dog or a child has to be in shot. My furry friend is 11 now, note he has also brought me a ball (along the bottom of the pic) - how considerate. After 11 years of not throwing his ball, he still hasn't given up!

Aww that looks like a Jack Russell! Mine never gave up on the ball thing either, after 16 fun-filled years. I still miss her.

Tuesday we took Yuki to get spayed at a place in Houston that specializes in fixing pets that was recommended by our vet. She was about 2.5 and as playful as a puppy. We were told that the surgery went well. We bought the pain pills that they offer. I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't. She was drinking but wasn't wanting to eat, but has always had a nervous stomach so I figured it was just the pills upsetting her stomach. Last night she seemed a bit more sluggish, but I figured that during the day she had overdone it and run around too much during the day. Apparently, that wasn't the case. She passed away last night. I had no reason to suspect anything other than her behavior last night. I wish I had known. At least in her last few days we lavished her with love and attention. She's going to be missed.

Yuki's a good dog

Really sorry to hear about Yuki. I agree it was good that you guys gave her loads of attention. Hopefully that will help you through.

Oh Steve, that is terrible. My sincere condolences. She was a beautiful dog.

What could possibly kill a an otherwise healthy 2-1/2 year old pup? It HAD to be some reaction to the drugs the vet gave her when she was spayed, don't you think? Will you be asking your vet about it? Makes me wonder.

Sounds like something went wrong with the surgery. So sorry to hear about your untimely loss. They're like children.

Steve,
My condolences! We have two ferrets that have cancer and are dying and I know how attached you get to these pets, they really are part of the family!

Do white German shepherds have more health-related issues than the others?

2 'lumps' have gotten larger...Rott's are prone to various cancers as they get older.
I'm sure the biopsy will be +, I just want more time with her.
so to the guy on the rainbow bridge...take Paris..let me keep Pascha.

Actually, because they aren't as desirable, they aren't bred as much, and, I believe, tend to be prone to fewer problems than regular German Shepherds.

She was healthy as a horse and very energetic normally.

Our best guess is that she probably had or developed internal bleeding and bled to death.

She seemed weak, but we figured that was normal after a major surgery, and she wasn't eating much which also in our minds helped to explain the low energy. There was no leaking at the wound and we didn't see any weird bruising which I'd think we'd have seen, but I'm no doctor.
