For anyone who doesn't know:

They are saying that these are not terror related..

Amazing!

I remember those days two years ago here on the West Coast.

CNN says the blackout originated in the Niagra Falls/Mohawk power grid.

No terrorism, though.

Langers 08-14-2003 06:00 PM

With tens of thousands of people pouring onto the streets of NY, I'm surprised terrorists didn't strike there and then.

pwd72s 08-14-2003 06:19 PM

Am I the only one to remember the "blackout" of the east coast some decades ago? Some of you who post today may be a result of that. 9 months later...a baby boom!! :)

Hilarious!

Apparently, the US has a very good army, but the power grid system needs a serious overhaul...another example of where money should be spent, rather than in silly wars.

you're right though about the baby-boom LOL
local gas stations were jacking up prices......the ones that were open anyway........and people were freaking out buying everything at the few open stores.........silly stuff, the national power grid has many redundancies but every once and a while it crashes, people lose touch with actual survival skills and they freak out......me...no big deal, i had gas in the 911 and enjoyed the uncommon darkness :D

Another example of the USA being KRAP and France being superior, right Aurel??? Jeeze...GET OFF IT, will ya??? Your act is really getting tiresome. Bell, curse the power outage! I mean, I was hoping you'd post pics of your extra darkness enjoyment. :D

funny how something like this doesn't take too long to become political...

no....it's just Aurel being his annoying self............
i learned a long time ago that if you take things like electricity for granted you'll end up "panicing" like the rest of the masses........always be prepared for anything is my thinking, and if you're caught off guard.....the lights will come back on, they always do.

Apparently, the French make very good bread, but they need figure out way to help their citizens beat the heat wave...another example of where money should be spent, rather than silly Le Cars and Mid-East oil futures.

Thank you for that inflammatory a$$ clown of a comment...

turbo6bar 08-15-2003 10:19 AM

I heard the power outage may have started in Ohio. I recall bell got his targa back a few days ago, and he has blown stereo fuses. What are the chances he connected his strereo to a substation, drew too much current, and shut down the power grid. Coincidence... I think not.

:)

Blame it all on Bell

Is Bell really a Terrorist????

Anyway now that I've had my fun...

If it WERE Terrorism...the government would go out of it's way to cover up that fact....The whole government not just the Bush administration doesn't want to disrupt the Economy....

What would be the economic impact if this were Terrorism...could they knock out the USA economy? One one hand by the fact that there is no power.... and the other by the ramifications....panic that would result..from the fact that they could succeed in knocking out the power. Like I said before the war on Terrorism is a fight for the survial of the USA, and we are vunerable.

The other thing that surprised me is that there was no looting...this is in contrast to what happened in 1965 when there was looting. This I think reflects a Sea Change in the American conscience...We realize NOW that we are vunerable to events like this and we are pulling together rather than against each other...This is BIG Politically...

dd74 08-15-2003 03:19 PM

I believe there was no looting only because people were too freaked out to loot. Many thought it was 9/11 all over again, which I'm sure came closer to panic than the press knows...

bell 08-15-2003 05:29 PM

what.........now i'm a terrorist LOL
and although i've been known to play with tesla coils i know better than to hook a 12v dc system to a/c...........geez i'm WAY more inteligent than that :D

the whole blackout didn't necassarily have to happen, when the first overload happened homeland security shut down all the nuclear plants as part of the post 9/11 security measures........
they may have overreacted in my opinion......just like all the people freaking out buying everything in the grocery stores.

I agree with Aurel..

if they just kill all of them and their immediate famlies it would be much cheaper.. burning their homes isn't good enough.

pwd72s 08-15-2003 07:52 PM

Ronnie, couldn't agree more! ;) On the power outage thing...if you know anybody working in a hospital maternity ward? Tell 'em to get ready for a rush of biz come mid April, '04. They probably already know that, though. Hell...NO TV??? Computer with no power? Hey honey, why don't we??? :D
