I never realized how many HORRIBLE things were done to old VW Busses. I used to want a 21 window deluxe so bad I couldn't see straight.
 And yes, that's my fat ass. I was changing a battery on my Jeep after the alternator died west of Evansville Indiana. The battery was cheaper than an alternator, and easier to change so I drove her home.
