I flew with the RTN for a few weeks. It was the first time I saw rat guards on helicopter tie-downs, on the wheel struts.

Imagine a giant radiator, 3 stories tall and 1000 feet long, with a bunch of fans running along the top.
And ya got a series of 150 hp motors running long drive shafts connected to right angle gearboxes with the fans attached to them.

That's where the gearboxes in them pics came from. Pretty severe service, running in steam 24/7 for 10 years at a time.

I have no good answer. While number one was a real engine, someone went through a lot of trouble to mock up the other three. First time I'd ever seen anything like that.
