No pic but the Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance book had a big impact on my simple
little lay existence. Heavy.
In addition to the contents of the book... He took his young son across America on a 350 cc
Honda. Maybe 305, I can't remember.
Is there any pics of the motorcycle still?
I know he left it in S.F.

I can't figure out how to link the photo. We have a squirrel and a woodpecker. But read the news story about the photographer who captured the two fighting.

squirrel, woodpecker fight while airborne captured in photos

Vs...

Chevrolet Biscayne. 1964, I think.
I've never understood the fascination with the '62-64 full size Chevy. Not mentioning the shoebox Chevies (55-57), I think the '58-61 full size are much prettier with much more character than the '62-64. I also think the '65 is a nice looking car. The '66 isn't bad, but the change to the more modern tail lights was the beginning of the end.

1958 Impala

1959

1960

1961

1962 - to me, these ('62-64) are just too straight and flat. The fact that there is a straight line across the top of the fenders from the front of the car all the way to the back just makes these look enormous compared to the other years before and after that have more going on visually.

1963

1964

1965 - I like how the '65s had the curves in the rear and angled front.

1966 - still has the nearly fastback style rear window and curved rear fenders, but the front has lost something and the tail lights are so snoozy compared to the earlier cars.

My dads 58. we bought it at 36k miles from a barn in NJ where a mechanic bought it from the original owner a lady who got too old to drive it in the 70s . Im not a big fan of the mods he did to it but everything is reversable

Whether you like the Biscayne in my photo or not, you have to admit that it has more curb appeal than the Buick Brown Turtle.

Absolutely!!!

I thought the "turtle" moniker was perfect too as was the term MEDIOCRITY.

Thanks, Cashflyer.

BTW: I like pretty much any of the older cars over the newer ones. Those early 60's Impala's were beautiful in my opinion, Steve. I always favored the '63 the most. Although I respect that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Having owned, restored, driven, raced a boat load of the 60's cars, I would rather Own a 60's car for the ever increasing investment value, but I would much rather drive the Brown Turd Box.

Re: the Chevys, I grew up with these cars and thought the '59 and the '64 were the best looking ones if only because of the clean lines of their designs. To each their own.

I had a '65 Impala 2 door(first car, older than I am).

I also had one of these

1969 Buick Riviera, in the same color, but the vinyl top had been removed and painted

and one of these
1970 Buick Skylark, I think it was about this color and had also had the vinyl top removed

I learned to drive manual trans on a 1966 Impala, not an SS mind you...3-speed on the column; what a car though...
