Well, so were the Beatles (turned down by many labels before they got a record deal. that is). Music business is apparently not a science.

Yup, Decca turned them down. Bet they regretted that.

Decca exective, Dick Rowe (1921-1986) was to go to his grave denying his epithet of "guitars are on the way out". According to Rowe, it was actually Mike Smith who gave the Beatles the thumbs-down.
I guess they didn't get their upfront bribe. |

![]() lol... In the late 80s, early 90s, I operated a BBS system on a few dial-in landlines. And around the upstate, the various system operators pretty much all knew each other and kept up with the developments. I remember it was around 1993 or 94 that several of us were gathered at one operators house, drinking beer and playing DOOM. One of the guys, who was a computer science major at the university, got us to all gather around at his desk as he dialed up the college servers, and from there accessed.... the internet. It was slow, but there in front of us was the Ferrari website. (or maybe Lambo... can't remember for sure) It wasn't long after that when we all starting to close down our small boards. Anyway, my point would be that people were online when moot was 5, and the internet community existed a good ten years before ![]()

I remember going online with Compuserve and I bought a pair of Levis online in about 1990 or 1991. It was at 2400 Baud, green text on a black background no graphics.
I too ran a BBS using Wildcat and knew most of the SYSOPS in the area. I remember using Fidonet to ask advice about buying a CD ROM burner drive. The answer came from Australia about getting a Plextor 2X drive because it was fast and reliable. Writing at 2X was FAST!. ![]() ![]()

B-39 Foxtrot in San Diego. Agree on the crude engineering. Hell I was worried it was going to sink while tied to the pier. Cannot imagine taking one out to sea.
