I believe that the issues is with the control system, but I haven't studied this to any depth.

Well I guess if you got a big enough target , like say.. a carrier.
and you can aim it well enough
and get in close enough
and shoot it fast enough

It could be a hassle...

Carrier during landing ops goes in a straight line.

if the fancy torpedo can do 700 mph submerged
30 secs flight time
313.33 m/s
That would be a 6 mile distance shot on a predictable big target

No steering required

It would take 4 seconds for initial sound to hit the target
26 seconds to respond with the carrier.

Good luck with that.






obviously subs and ASW escorting the big boat.
But in places like the med or the straight of Hormuz...

Any small sub could be lurking.. If they really want to and dont mind the consequences..'They could sit there and wait for the big target to sail right in front of them

The fancy Russian Shkval is a 200+ knot weapon. I imagine this is how it steers, by moving the gimbal making the bubbles different on one side or the other.
