Bikes will be my Friday theme. Here's mine. I took this after a long day of painting my garage today. Nice to clear the head with a short ride.

Here's the bike version of the recent ugly women posts. Was a Honda 45o until someone got "creative". As seen on Ebay-

Denver, and its really mint. They are out there and the nice thing about the old Beemers is that the parts are really available. DrDogFace is looking at several right now trying to find the right one to buy.

What I REALLY want to do is put a sidecar on the thing....

More info on this bike? I can see it's a BMW, but what year/model? I would guess early 1960s from the skinny tires. In any case, it's a beautiful bike. I have recently begun to gain an interest in motorcycles, but really know nothing about them, other than I really like the look of early 70s Triumphs...

CJ,

Its a /5 version of the BMW's. There were various flavours, a 500, 600 and 750cc version. The one above is a R75, or 750 cc. They run from 1970 to 1973 or so then get "modern" with front disk brakes and such.

They really are bulletproof and nice to ride. No, its not a 2000 model bike and does have drum brakes so you have to plan ahead. All of the older BMW's shift like a Morris minor, in that you are not going to be doing any speedshifting.

All that said, they are a lot of fun, run forever and are a very good investment as well. They are around in all different shapes.

Cafe racer is one very very nice way to restore these:

Not to change the subject or anything. Here I am with a main engine control and fuel pump off a 737. Cell phone pic.

There's an annual show in Milwaukee called the "Rockerbox". Tons of very cool bikes. More BMWs than you can shake a stick at.

Bad boy version of Joe's bike. (okay - it's just a seat)

The elusive Vincent Black Shadow - complete with oil leaks.

At first glance I thought Honda too.

Joe,
You were right...as usual...this is a great thread to sub to now. I have a date with the guy in Fresno for that pristine silver R75 on Wed. Toaster tank is on hold.

The pics you sent me of your bike looked like it was silver.... What is it?

FWIW, I did find a guy in San Diego who has an R75/6 with side car for $5K...they are out there. Just keep scanning the net...Craig's list, etc. I do it 2x per day sometimes...

Even a bike newbie like me knows this one. The infamous Black Shadow, the only bike to ever scare Hunter S. Thompson.

Joe, tell your friend he needs to post the "obligatory" pic when posting here.

Here's a little gem in Milwaukee's Craigslist for a mere $7900-

However, there's a 74 R90/6 in Miwaukee's Craigslist for $1500 right now. Not as cool as a toaster, but cheap entry into the BMW realm.

Same bike but with the fairing on:

Another version:

Speaking of Vincents:

Good friend of mine here in Phoenix has a Black Shadow in his living room. It is a work of art...
