Well if anything can distract us from recollections of the venerable 917, it's a well-endowed brunette in a brown bikini. So lest we forget........



This helps us understand the length of a 917. Since the front axle runs under the driver's knees, this vehicle is just about as long as a driver, an engine and a transmission.

I ran my jeep for 4 years with the oil like rice putting. When i rebuilt it there was a crack that ran from the valve seat halfway down the cylender wall. The top two piston rings in every cylender were in a dozen pices. It still ran fine
