What I did last weekend.
Last year my wife and I went to Catalina Island. There was a lot of excitement with an outrigger canoe race from Avalon to Newport Beach. It sounded like fun so I joined a local club last October and started racing. Well, here I am about 5 miles out from Catalina on our 31 mile crossing. (the orange and blue boat.) It's really a great thing to aim for something and achieve an goal. So for those of you who always wanted to do something, get out there and do it. Next year my goal is to complete the Molokai to Oahu 48 miles crossing race.

Very cool Paul. I crewed in collge and picked up sea kayaking a few years ago, but, ever since my first trip to Maui back in '95 I have wanted to try this. Next time I'm there I'm going for it. Looks a little safer than kite surfing too.

Cool, that brings back memories.
My old high school back in Honolulu, had its own outrigger team.

Nowhere near as far but my wife and I kayaked across Kealakekua Bay to the Cook monument (on the Big Island). We ate lunch in British territory and then snorkeled. A pod of spinner dolphins swam under us as we crossed back to the wharf. That was the trip of a lifetime.
