O.T. When drillers and utilities collide.
Sorry, Z, but I had to do it, and I'm too frickin lazy to post in the ot area. I'm a baaaaaad man. What happens when a lazy geo who didn't do his job and make sure that the area to be drilled has been clear of utilities? Why, you have a gasleak at the Naval Postgraduate housing in Monterey county. I got to make people leave thier houses and go for a walk. There were quite a few people ever so peeved.

todwic: no problem: I'll move it to OT for ya!
But: funny you should mention drilling & leaking: just last week, the DPW was digging infront of my work buildling. Wouldn't you know it: they broke through a natural gas line. Ever smell that gas smell when the pilot light in the stove isn't working? Well, that's what you could smell outside my building!  (anyone gotta match?!? hehehe)-Z-man.

That stuff is called mircaptain, I think I spelled that wrong. Anyway, Natural gas disperses way faster then that smell, and is also way heavier. Once we got up in the morning and you could hardly breath outside our house because if it. We sat tight and called the fire department (We don't have natural gas at our house). They came over and said that there really was not that much natural gas in the air, the leak was a long way away, we were just in a low spot and the mircaptain was coming our way.

The correct spelling is mercaptan. Basically a disgusting smelling sulphur containing compound that gas companies inject into the gas stream so we can smell leaks.
