I upgraded my laptop today...so far no issues. The new mail app has some nice features, and expose is pretty useful. The new fast user switching could prove to be a time saver too...kind of like virtual desktops, but you are actually different users with individual profiles.

easy...it is known as the "reality distortion field". I follows Jobs around. That and Jobs has charisma. Gates has...umm...glasses and lots of money.

wow Todd, that's weird. my post is timed after your first one but I could swear that it snuck inbetween there after mine. what's even weirder is that you still knew what I was asking

If you think this is bad, check the bandwidth meter at www.kernel.org when the 2.6.0 linux kernel is "final". Or any distributions web/ftp site on release day.

Buy a Mac if you have no interest in computers and want something you 4 year old can use out of the box. Also, if you have data that is basically worthless and you don't care if you ever see it again then a Mac may be right for you as well.

All those devotees lining up for the Panther release - does the word "Koolaid" ring any bells? These are the folks who will be lining up early for the first showing of next Matrix movie.

"These are the folks who will be lining up early for the first showing of next Matrix movie." Too funny. The Mac guys I know are all into super hero stuff as well. Seems if you collected comic books as a kid then you are drawn to Mac. Interesting.

Good Lord, it's a computer, not a religion. The Anti-Mac zealots are just as foolish-looking as the Mac zealots. Don't you realize that? I've read comic books all my life (and still have a sizable collection--Frank Miller rules) but after nearly 30 years and many linux/win machines I'm getting my first Apple. It will be used alongside one box running Linux, one running Win98/Linux, one running Coyote as a firewall (look it up), a laptop running Plan9, another laptop running Linux, and one running NetBSD. So there goes your "correlation" down the drain. I'm excited because it's something different and with OSX it will give me some flexibility if I want it. Plus a lot of useful capability. Like actually working (unlike Win2k).

Easy big fella, Maybe my IBM keyboard is missing the key that denotes just having fun? It's called friendly ribbing and the PC vs Mac scene has always been a personal favorite. Decaf man decaf. Wait, I put that smiley there last time and I guess it didn't work. How bout

Sorry, bad morning. Even the commute in the 911 with the top down didn't help!! I'm just tired of the whole PC vs. Mac thing. But that comic book comment was a low blow. FWIW, the first Matrix movie ruled, the second one sucked goat balls, and I'm not going to bother with the third!

No prob, I have a buddy I get on about the CB thing. It makes for some good friendly ribbing. Mac vs PC will never get old to me, that is until Mac folds I mean Ride home will cure your ills.

That said I have witnessed that Mac users are really "into" their OS compaired to a typical PC user. Started with the original Mac TV commercial - something about breaking free of the mindless masses. VW has a similar concept with the little flower vase in the new beetle.

Somewhere on this BBS are thoughts from a computer professional who said he could work on anything - he didn't care. That pretty much sums up my opinion as well. If Mac was the top dog (most used) then I would surely be working on one. It isn't and I don't.
