Considering job move to Boise, Idaho--help

I know nothing about this city and state so I thought I'd ask here while I begin my research. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Moving anywhere from Nebraska is an upgrade.

Seriously though, Idaho is beautiful. Great flyfishing, rafting, backpacking. Miles and miles of uncrowded highways designed for your Porsche.

Just kidding. I've always wanted to visit that area.

I was born and raised in Idaho (about 1.5 hours from Boise), so I would be more than happy to pass along any info that I can. It is a decent sized town, so you get those benefits. But small enough that traffic and some of the other big city problems are found there.

The other great thing about that area is that in virtually minutes, you can be in some of the most beautiful areas in the nation.

If you are into sports, they don't have a few minor league teams. The winters are fairly cold, but not as bad as other areas of Idaho. The summers are the best time of the year. A bit hot, but virtually no humidity to be found.

Like I said, if there is anything I can help with, just PM me.

I'm sure one of these days I will be calling Boise my home.

A friend from grad school was from Boise (pronounced boy-see, not boy-zee according to him). He liked it. Gets damn cold, but evidently so do most places. I can't speak from experience...I get nervous when outside the confines of the republik of California.

Sawtooth mountains, Sun Valley...nice country.

Last time I was there was when the first Space Shuttle "mishap" took place. Saw Issac Stern perform there, then met him afterward...amazing!

I remember there being an air alert because of the winds containing the pollutants from fireplaces, cars etc. I'm sure there's a name for this phenomena (Valley effect?)....Any Cali guys like to chime in?
