Nice place to live (not)

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Southwest/11/04/highway.gunfight/index.html

This "gray Dodge Caravan" was found 4 miles from my house.

Lovely.

Time to go clean the Remington 12-ga.

BlueSkyJaunte 11-04-2003 02:55 PM

It gets better:

"undocumented immigrants"

Remington's are nice, I've got a 12G myself. But, what one needs when the poo hits the fan is a real rifle. I like M-14's with 20 round clips. If someone is trying to kill you you might as well be able to defend yourself. Plus they look awesome in the back window.

Adam 11-04-2003 04:07 PM

That's scary stuff.

This punches big holes in things. The finish will earn you bonus bling points, too! :D

cassisrot 11-04-2003 04:16 PM

Is that a .45 acp? I've got a 1991 model colt loaded with 215 grain hollow points, helluva exit hole.

Adam 11-04-2003 04:22 PM

.50AE (Action Express)

"The victims have not been identified, but Valenzuela said they appeared to be undocumented immigrants. He did not know if they were men or women.

Another two people with gunshot wounds were found nearby and taken to ..."

'Scuse this old goat please...but when did illegal aliens become undocumented immigrants???

It was back in the sixties when the lefties took over the media

These are my choices for home protection:

http://www.heckler-koch.de/html/english/behoerden/02_submachineguns/02_03_index.html

The briefcase version is quite convenient and the supressed version is good if you need to use it in a confined space

BlueSkyJaunte 11-04-2003 06:52 PM

I stick with Tupperware. Glock model 22.

Remington 870 is backup.

Harlan Chinn 11-04-2003 06:55 PM

This one would be great out the sunroof of a pepper wagon

http://www.heckler-koch.de/html/english/behoerden/05_machineguns/05_01_index.html

cassisrot 11-04-2003 07:21 PM

We could use the pepper wagon as a perimeter scout vehicle. But first we do the concertina and the claymores.

The Glock and the H&K's are real nice weapons, but I do like big bullets. 7.62's, .45's and the best I have had the honor and privilege of using, The fifty caliber machine gun.

BlueSkyJaunte 11-05-2003 05:12 AM

OK, you've convinced me. A Pfefferwagen with an HK23E wouldn't be so bad.

So there IS a time when one might want a Pfefferwagen. Though you may end up disabling the enemy through abdominal spasms induced by uncontrollable laughter when they see you...

JavaBrewer 11-05-2003 05:46 AM

I would love to see a zero tolerance policy on guns. If a person commits a crime with a gun then they go to jail for life. If they also happen to kill one or more people with said gun then they too will be exectuted - immediately. F**k em. Lousy cowards.

My personal favorite...

Rick, Ol sam makes real nice guns, purty too. Is the combat elite a .45? Is it accurized?

LeeH 11-05-2003 07:28 PM

My wife commutes on that route. Last month she drove from Phoenix to Tucson and back four days each week. Maybe I can pick her up a new ride at the Wells Fargo surplus armored car auction.

And hire someone to ride shotgun.

Literally.

Moneyguy1 11-06-2003 09:21 AM

About a year ago, the Washington DC area was not the place to live. Two years ago in September, it was Manhattan. It was just AZ's time in the barrel. Who knows what next year will bring?

BlueSkyJaunte 11-06-2003 09:23 AM

9/11 and the sniper were not endemic problems. Alien smugglers are, at least until Bush gets off his ass and starts enforcing border security.

Moneyguy1 11-06-2003 09:37 AM

Higher and wider fences? We have a problem here in AZ due to laxness on both sides of the border at the federal level(s). In New Mexico, where I travel quite a bit, along the border, they have a very active patrol, and inspect even motels. I agree that, until Washington sees this as a serious problem, little will be done to curtail the illegal activity. Then, what else is new?

"The cloud of dust you see in the distance as you are busily engaged in repairing the lock on the barn door is the ass end of the horse".

tabs 11-06-2003 12:58 PM

I knew there was a reason I didn't move to Arizona....

It's really not any better here either...they are always finding people in dumpsters...thats why I stopped doing my grocery shopping in them...

Glock 23's are nice...that 40 S&W sure gets up and goes...
Detonic's sure made a nice backup sized 45 ASAP
Winchester made a knuckle buster in the model 97 Riot gun
and Springfield Arsenal not Armorey made a he11 of an impression on George Patton with their M1 Garand Rifle...

Of course what do I know, I've only held a gun in my hand once and nearly peed my pants when I did....all that awesome power in my hand nearly scared me to death....

BlueSkyJaunte 11-06-2003 02:07 PM

Hoplophobic, eh? :D

RickM 11-06-2003 02:30 PM

Richard,

My Colt Combat Elite is .45 ACP. However, it was also made in .38 Super. It is accurized but not to the degree of the Gold Cup National Match, which is pretty much competition ready out of the box. IMO, the GCNM's accuracy comes at a price, it suffers from being very finicky with ammo. The Elite is more for the combat-style match shooters. Very much my favorite pistol and extremely accurate...even more so than my Ruger Target! It's also considered one of the best combat sidearms ever produced.

tabs 11-06-2003 03:03 PM

Isn't the Colt Gold Cup, National Match the top of the line Colt Auto? Didn't they start making the National Match in the 1930's first in 45 ASAP then in 38 Stuper, and as a companion gun in 22 LR the ACE? Hmmm, I recollect hearing now, that during the late 1950's..didn't Colt make the National Match in 38 Midrange as well as 45 ASAP and again in the late 1980's make a short run of 38 Stuper Matches in SS. Or I even understand they made the Gold Cup in 10MM in the early nineties, a few were even made in SS...I bet some of those guns are really hard to get, and the price must be sky high when you do see them for sale? But thats only a guess on my part....as I've only held a gun once...and that was enough for me...

EVIL, EVIL, EVIL....You and PWD72S...having those child endangering guns...that can shoot multiple shots....isn't that a COMMIE weapon your shooting there...an AK something er other? AND with a 30 round magazine to boot...does your local BATF agent know you have those...Geezus..it's enough just looking at those vicious looking weapons to make me wet myself....

You know that guns made before 1945 are a lot less scary to me than the newer ones...they don't look like they were made of stamped steel and plastic parts...Theres wood, machining, milling, polishing, fit and finish..hey kinda like a Porsche except the Porsche is alot less scary of course. I mean have you ever seen a Sharps ahh 1878 Long Range up close? I mean that gun was meant to shoot 1000 yard Target matches. Now I would be afraid to touch one of those cause you never know if it's loaded or not and a 1000 yards well thats a long way for a bullet to travel with accuracy, especially one that was made back in the day. Weren't they still using Black Powder back then....wow what they could accomplish with a 45/100 cartridge... Bet thats gota be a pretty rare gun after all this time. By the way are Sharps Shooters called that because they shoot Sharps rifles?

Geezus...Bell...just the sight of those guns in your pictures makes me dribble myself....isn't that a WW2 German MG34, and Browning model 1919...not that I would know what I'm talking about or know the difference...and in the 2nd picture... wasn't a guy named Stoner the orginal designer of those EVIL, vicious looking weapons...

Oooh, now rifles.... my favorite! Anyone care to guess what it is?

BTW, I shouldn't be talking about this. After all I'm from NJ (Nazi Jersey) where these are banned for civilians.

Tubs, my Elite is Stainless, Pachmeyer grips and parkerized slide.
I thought the 10mm versions were the Deltas....not sure.

I also prefer the Tupperware, Glock 23 with 40 cal. Black Talons in a Galco Miami Vice holster. The S&W Sigma 380 fits nicely into the back pocket for back up when I'm out street evangelizing. ;)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1068233611.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1068233624.jpg

RickM 11-07-2003 11:03 AM

380 would be my back-up choice as well. Still haven't settled on brand or model.

Noah,

Here's a great site on the background of the Galil (S)AR .223s http://world.guns.ru/assault/as23-e.htm
This as well as the many AR 223 rifles are decendents of the Russian Kalashnikov AK-47. Examples made in China, Spain, Germany, Belgium, US, Israel etc.....

Discovery Channel did an excellent bit on the Galil rifle. They dunked in water/dirt, broke a door down with it and it fired perfectly every time.... Arguable the best combat rifle made.

I also have a particular liking for the awesome HK 91 (aka G3).
