I was watching Sky News and they said that DNA tests have confirmed that it's indeed him. It's been top story for the last couple of hours.

The only thing this does - if anything - is make Bush look a little less stupid in the eyes of the world... (if that is at all possible..).

Is that him they got? Or one of his 'doubles.' I guess it's him, but it's hard to imagine a man with billions, connections and apparently loyal supporters (the bombings continue) to be in such a bad way.

Sounds like you're talking about Saddam here.

I think the (tens of) thousands of Iraqis celebrating in the streets believe this was a success, too.

If you're bitter about the US "pissing off the rest of the world" you must mean the rest of the world is comprised, essentially of France, Germany, Russia, and to a lesser degree, Canada. Or, really the governments of such countries. And the 30 nations that provided mil. assistance and the 30 more that provided other assistance don't matter. 4 or 5 countries (and a few more *****bag countries that are themselves tyrannies or murderous theocracies) are the "rest of the world" whose opinions are necessarily more valuable than the opinions of 60 countries that concurred.

I think all the laughing has made you hypoxic.

DNA confirmed it's him? In a scant few hours? The local DA can't get that done in weeks. I'm not doubting you or anyone else here, this is not my area of expertise. I am a terrible skeptic, though.

It is being reported that the DNA was a match. I think, after the prior "false alarms" that the administration would have to know 100% before they made this claim. Evidently Rummy got the word about the capture around midday yesterday, so they've had quite a while to check this out.

Your doubting doesn't make you a terrible skeptic, it makes you a good skeptic.

What we "do" is put him on trial for multiple offenses (war crimes, crimes against humanity, mass murder, illegal possession and use of WMD, etc, etc, etc........)and then execute him if found guilty.

I am not too worried about him incriminating most of Europe in his crimes, even if true most would refuse to believe it. If the evidence presented so far don't convince you, nothing will.

How is this "success" as "bo" asked? Well, this should take the air out of the loyalists sails so to speak. They were no doubt hoping for a triumphant return of their leader and now that can't happen. I'm not saying that everything will be sunshine and roses from here on out, but this was a vital step in the rebuilding process. For a lot of Iraqis he WAS the "boogeyman" and now that he can be put on trial, it's a good thing for THEM.

The only people who think this isn't good hate Bush more than they hate true evil and that is pathetic. Some innocent people died in this campaign and that is unfortunate but it was never the goal and if we "pissed off the rest of the world", that's a small price to pay for protecting the security of our nation and even the ones we "piss off". 63 countries stood with us in this fight and the right thing was done.

There will always be people who don't see it this way and insist on comparing us with people like Hitler, but they are fundamentally wrong and quite frankly in my opinion a bit insane. Admittedly, I am rather "hawkish" in my approach and for those of you out there who believe that peaceful action is the only appropriate reaction, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

What do we do w/ him -- extract as much information as we can, using any means possible (short of killing him) and then turn him over to the Iraqis so they can exercise their new found liberties and try him as a criminal, dispensing whatever punishment they like. I think it'd be selfish to deny Iraqis the opportunity to dispense their justice.
