Had som efun at someone else's expense today...

Parked the car in a downtown garage to take my son to see Santa, and looked across the row and spotted a beautiful grey 996. First, I admired, then noticed that it was parked in a clearly marked handicapped spot next to the elevator. Started the wheels turning, looked more carefully, and no, no handicapped plate, nothing hanging from the mirror. So I walked over to the car just to make certain that it didn't have a placard on the dash - it didn't. Handicapped? Driving that?

Grumbled, went back to the wife and kid, went and did the Santa and shopping thing.

Got back to the Jeep and noticed the car was still there. Got up to the cashier window, paid out, looked at the attendant and said:

"Hey, wanna p*ss off a rich guy?"

Eyes light up... "Yeah!!!"

Told her where the car was parked, she immediately hops on the radio and calls for someone to come and ticket it.

Explained to my wife that nutsacks like that give the rest of us that drive Porsches a bad name.

Merry Christmas, hope the $68 was worth it, you a-wipe.

Icey...Thanks! My wife has MS...walks not far, and with difficulty when she does. Healthy folks using a handicapped spot piss me off! If the guy had a legit sign, just forgot to hang it from his mirror, he can justly fight the ticket. If not, he deserves the fine.
I have hung a handicapped parking sign from my P car mirror, when Cindy's with me...we sometimes get funny looks, because MS victims don't always "look sick". But she's not carrying a folding cane for fun...

I have never even heard of anyone doing that. I've never had a friend ask for one. It's funny. About 1/4 of the disability tags are claimed by obese people who cannot manage the trek across a big parking lot.

With you all the way on that one! And during holiday shopping rush when there was probably a HC person who needed the space.

In MN., where I am from, those tickets are a lot more than $68. My Dad is a recently retired judge, when he got stuck working traffic court he would stick it to people who did this. Frequent breaks for everyone else, depending on the circumstances, but not for this. He considered these people to be the worst, total jerks. (But he didn't say "jerks", , for anyone who saw "Fargo").

That's outrageous!!

What's next, placards for pot heads who are too stoned to work up the motivation to walk from the car to Ben and Jerrys?

Moses, you clearly haven't kept up with the latest advances in medical research. They've definitively established that obesity is caused by a virus.

Don't forget Enron and Halliburton.

A couple of relatives on my wife's side have placards because of obesity. They have convinced themselves that they really are disabled.

My view of a disability is one that can not be corrected with will power and exercise.

Does seem like $68 bucks is a paltry sum comparitively. On principal alone, that's the type of fine that should START at $1000.00, with $25 going to the state, and $975 going to a NPO like Arthitis foundation, or MDA.

I admire my 70+ year old father-in-law's additude about HC parking. He's had hip replacements 3 times. He's in pain alot - you can see it on his face but he'd never tell ya about it. But he absolutely refuses to use any special parking areas. Parks in the normal spaces and makes do.

Did you ever notice how individuals with real handicaps try to downplay it and act like a normal human beings, while some with questionable handicaps are adamant about their "disability."
