aaah. that really is screwy. I had a similar situation about 7 years ago where someone was suing me for an insignificant amount. (not in the medical field. it was a supplier) I was incensed, as the person had no basis for their suit. my attorney said just settle it as a nuisance suit, as it will cost much more to fight it! so I subsequently did. but not until I thoroughly discussed it with him that it will not reflect in any public records, as - just as you said - I didn't want to carry around the stigma of something that was totally without basis. in this case, you're right. it is good to be invisible.
