Epicurian Epic....The Buffet in LV

I gotta stop going to those Buffets...One just eats tooooo much...pffft... Went to a Locals casino called the Cannery for their 1 year anniversary Special Sea food Buffet $15.95.

They had....Cured and Smoked salmon with a Avacado, Jalapeno, tomatoe condiment, 4 different types of Steamed Clams, Shrimp cocktail, Crab legs, Oyster on the Half Shell, A hot Smoked Salmon to die for, grilled Mahi mahi, Shrimp wt the heads on in Lobster sauce, Sushi, Pepper Shrimp, Cold Mussels in Shell, Oysters Rockerfeller, Clam Strips, popcorn shrimp, deep fried Cod, Cippinio, Seafood Alfredo, Seafood Newburg...that was beside the normal entrys and Prime Rib.

Other Buffets I've bin to are

Texas Station...$6.99 last summer...standard fare, not bad but not great either... Corned Beef is standard daily fare, mostly locals

Rampart Casino..not memorable was a half price deal last summer, $5.99

Riviera......$17.95...food was OK but a waste of time for the money.

Main Street Station..downtown...$10...some decent entrys a cut above standard, but not really special either

Sun Coast...not bad, about $20 for their Friday Seafood, Prime Rib has always bin tender...but it is a pain in the a$$ to have to break up the crab legs.

Palms...$5.99 half price special....really not memorable allthougth they did have Pastrami along with Corned Beef and Roast Beef

Palace Station...SO SO standard fare except they had a special on Liver and Onions grilled fresh that was good...I know Yech...

Mirage/ Golden Nugget....same Buffet really, run by the same company..Steve Wynn's Mother used to run the Golden Nugget Buffet....Good food, lots of variety and the Bread Pudding...this is where it started from. $15.95 dinner....a definate Yes

Caesars Palace..Was there in the past and for the money I liked the Mirage better. But comparable.

NOW FOR THE BEST BUFFET I've bin to:

The BELAGIO....Friday night Gourmet Buffet.. $35.00....just the highlights...Scotish Smoked salmon, Split King Crab Legs, Shrimp Cocktail, 2 types of Ceviche, Sushi, Kobe Beef, Buffalo Prime rib, Steamed Clams, the deserts...Everything was sooo Goood...It was worth it just for the Crab Legs. (the Belagio, MGM, Mirage, TI and Golden Nugget are all owned by Kirk Kerkcokorian. So I am assuming the MGM will be about the same as the Belagio)

The Buffet that has escaped me which I here is good is the RIO Friday Seafood Buffet...I also here it's $50.

The ones I would absolutely stay away from are the Stardust, Excaliber, Circus Circus Buffets. Cafeteria Food....

Now for some off strip restruants that I liked.

..McMillians Irish Pub...Thursdays all the Fish and Chips you can eat for $10...freshly battered and very light flakey cod...ummm I'm going back when I'm hungry....Next to the RIO

Chows...Sahara and Decature...Dim Sum for lunch...for under $10 a person you can get stuffed...patrons are all local orientals...

Santa Fe Station...95 & Rancho...The Cafe....$5.99 Chicken Fried Steak...freshly battered and fried, comes sizzling...1/2 Hamburger with fries...$3.99 etc etc...Good standard fare at reasonable prices...I think all the Station Casinos have a Cafe style restruant in them. Mostly old folk locals and you better be there by 5PM

The Ranch House...part of OLD LV...Steak House off of Ann Road...and I mean house to. In the old days all the Casino Bosses would bring their girl friends to the Ranch House for dinner cause it was so far outa town that no body would ever see them together. The waiters would rob the patrons, cause they knew they couldn't complain. Anyway all the Baby Back Ribs you can eat for $14.95....otherwise a steak dinner is about $25.

Mama Jo's...Way up Charleston in Summerlin...good Itye food reasonably priced.

But the absolute best food comes right outa my own Kitchen... just ask my neighbors...

Jezus, man! How much do you weigh these days?

BTW: is that downtown casino that serves the $2 steak still around? I'd truly be afraid of "mad cow" down there.

I agree. On the news, there was a girl who "has" the disease. Looked to me like a good exorcism could have done the trick for her.
