Talking C6 Corvette!!!

ohmygodisawthenewc6corvette
ok i need to calm down. anyone else seen this yet? whats your take. it has no flip up headlights which is the first time in a few decades. it boasts 400 hp out of the 6Liter LS2 and its down to 3100 lb or so.
i wish it was a little shorter but aside from that i think its sexy. any comments?
feel free to flame*

*if youre queer

I had a look at it on the AutoWeek website. No flames from this side.
I'd rather have that c6 than any new Porsche wasserwagen. And the money saved could easily keep my 911SC nicely co-existing in the garage for years.

the corvette is the best bang-for-your-buck car on the planet... but build quality is still a problem at GM. I know this first-hand

my gf's father bought a C5 in October, a 50th anniversary convertable. it is beautiful except for one thing: the trunk shut lines are not even. The trunk sits a few CMs taller than the rest of the car.

makes me sad.

I was tempted to buy a C-4 until the C-5 came out. The C-5 is a better car, but I don't like the styling, so I scrapped the Corvette idea.

The C-6 may make me take another look. The pictures look promising. Can't wait to see the real thing.

my stepdad has a 2001, what is that a C5? that thing is fun to drive, rigid! but fit and finish is crap. seat beat broke, it leaks some tranny fluid, the dash peeled up, a door lock quit. all warranty, but seesh.

C6 is currently my favorite 'Merican car. But yeah, it has to have better fit and finish than my 30-yr-old Porsche to make me unload 50-grand for one, which I seriously doubt the Vette has.

Too bad.

Unfixed,
2001 is a C5 / current vette. I agree alot of bang for the buck.

I like the C5 but still can't get over the huge/tall rear facia.

I like it so far. I've read that that huge rear facia is hurting the car in racing aspects.

saw pics of the C6 in R&T. Don't like it. It is smaller, which is good (the C5 is too big for my tastes... hell, my 944 is too big for my tastes), but the headlights look like a 3000GT, the front looks like a RX8, and the profile just doesn't sit well.

I didn't like the C5 at first, so maybe the C6 will grow on me.

And yes, the fit and finish on the Vette SUCKS

I can't wait to see what tuning houses like Lingenfelter Performance Engineering & Doug Rippie Motorsports can do with the C6. I love reading C&D's "Specialty File" every month or so...

The new C6 is powered by the Gen IV V8, right?

yea lingenfelter got 725 hp out of the 5.7. they should be able to bang out a little more with the 6 Liter.
they are calling the motor the LS2 which seems like a bit of a misnomer. all the LT series engines and LS series have been 5.7 Liters. they have basically been modifications of the LT1. with an extra 300cc i dont even know the if the LS2 is the same block

I think the new Corvette looks very Viperesque.

I love it. My dad has had 2 C5s ('98 conv. and '02 sport roof) and both cars were excellent. The '98 had some interior pieces that fell apart, but the '02 was rock solid and we never had to take it to the dealer for unscheduled maintenance. I can't wait for the C6 Z06, it should be something spectacular!

im nervous that they are killing the Z06. the C6 is priced right between the current C5 and Z06, and its only got 5 less hp than the current Z06. i hope they keep it going though the Z06 is the best thing to happen to corvette in the past few decades

I though I read somewhere new Z06 is shooting for 500hp/500lb torque--to match Viper.
