I make the decision to advertise in the Recycler Photo Buys this last week while selling my vehicle. HUGE MISTAKE!
I’ve advertised through The Recycler’s free ad publication in the past and a couple of regular $60.00 one photo ads in the past with minimal errors so why not do it again, right? WRONG! Because it’s a higher end car I thought I would spring for the BIG ($361.00) package for “more exposure, etc. etc.. HUGE MISTAKE, not only was I NOT given a simple (working) link that would direct potential customers to my site I was told a week after the listing that I would need to cough up and extra $3.50 or my ad would be canceled. When I notified the sales rep about my dilemma she said she would take care of it, end of story right? Wrong, I still continued to receive that same annoying E-mail telling me that they were going to cancel my ad. So I contacted a supervisor, my representative, the person that was threatening to cancel my ad and an affiliate at the LA TIMES (they had my vehicle listed with them as part of the package). After that I received a less than pleasant E-mail from the customer service rep that pretty much told me what I should and should not be doing, “Wait a minute, Who’s the customer shelling out $361.00???” Don't you think they should be communicating internally on this one.... I guess that's not their problem or at least that's what their replies insinuate. Moral of story? NEVER AGAIN, Just wanted to ask if there have been any similar experiences out there with this sort of hoopla. If nothing else it will help me breath better at night if I can help just one person out there from going through this same hard ache. Good Luck!

did you pay by credit card? seems to me that they did not give you what was promised. may be time to look into getting a bit of your money back

Ronin,
You’re absolutely right, this is something that I should keep in mind; the hassle alone is worth what I paid. With the time spent going back and fourth with these people you would think indeed I would get some sort of apology not a counseling from their sales representative. They need some sort of internal training on one their customer service skills and two their lack of internal communication. As I told them already it’s as though the left hand knows not what the right hand is doing or has no control over it.

I like the old Recycler. The new one sucks. Isn't there an alternative? When something goes bad that was working before they fixed it, usually something pops up to take its place.

I’ve advertised in the recycler for over 15 years and thought everything worked great, but it appears as though greed “commission” has taken over.
I used to be able to place a quick free ad without a problem, now I get the sales pitch every time I call…… I spend over $360.00 with them on this one ad and still not real bites on my advertisement, they don’t have a working link for my ad!
