Plus Gibbs is coming back to the Redskins.

I think it's great on both accounts.

And Kurt Cobain...he shoved something up his nose too....a little larger than a rolled-up dollar bill, though.

So the Yankees pitching staff is in Houston now. Anyone could realistically take the AL East (except Tampa, of course). The Marlins had a fire-sale despite assurances that they wouldn't. The Red Sox added pitching to their devastating offense. Pete Rose is lobbying for the Hall. Vlad the Impaler is an Angel now. The Yankees traded their ace pitching for awesome offense. Mo Vaughn is taking a year off to "get back in shape".

It's gonna be an interesting year for baseball, ladies and gents.

why would you come into a thread about baseball to criticise interest in baseball? *ahemTROLLahem* I'm sure there are hobbies/interests that you are into that other people would yawn if you tried explaining at a party.

Where have you been?

Everyone who's anyone here knows the epic height of my disdain for "professional" sports.

And FYI, I am the life of every party I attend. It's the discussions of Marxism that keeps 'em begging me to attend.

Signed,
-BlueSkyMarxist

So the only baseball you like would be...um...Cuban baseball, right?

Or possibly you're a fan of Cuban baseball players?

No, wait: that wouldn't work. They came over for multi-million dollar contracts, no?

Well, BlueSky, I think we would have an interesting discussion on world politics (I took several courses in Marxism, Communism, and Socialist Russia... three terms that are most definitely NOT interchangable, despite popular opinion)... but it does seem somewhat troll-like to come into a baseball thread and diss baseball. It would be like a Honda boy coming over to PP and saying "Yo, Porsches are ******* cars, they are overpriced pieces of crap"

....As if anything in the OT forum wasn't a troll. This is OT, baby! It's open season!

Hell, we even let Tabby hang out here.

FYI when you chimed in this was no longer a "baseball thread", 83% of the posts were about a philosophical discussion of the use of mind-altering substances by various dead celebrities (specifically, the use of cocaine and shotguns).

And, yes, Porsches ARE ******* cars.

PS I once got in an argument with a bloke who was convinced that it was OK for the Arizona Cardinals to be named after a bird that is seen more frequently in New Jersey than in AZ. Now, if they'd changed their name to the Arizona We've-got-sand-in-our-drawers-that's-why-we-can't-win-any-games, I'd have no issue with it. Except for the fact that we're building a $300 million stadium for a sports team, and a losing one to boot.

Blue, despite your Marxist leanings, I bet you wouldn't turn down $1,000,000 to swing your sword at an opponent.

Marxism. Puuleeeaassee. I also studied it in college. Then I came in touch with the real world. At best, it's a great ideology until human nature takes over, vis-a-vis Lenin and Stalin - and thus results in the same avarice, greed and genocide that capitalists are accused of.

But somewhat back on topic: didja' know Castro used to throw a wicked curve?

Hell, no. On the other hand, I wouldn't cry like a baby when my bowl full of M&Ms turned out to have a green one in it.

Hell, I studied it in 7th grade. I'm an engineer, I duuno 'bout none of these social things. College for me was about important engineer-y things like math and....well....math. Oh, and computers.

He learned it from Kruschev. That guy could really put some English on a shoe.
