Oh yeah, I sure have noticed over many years that Canadians are like Monday morning quarterbacks. Don't just sit on your asses and b!tch, get in the game boys!

What's even worse is that you're not even a God-fearing American so wtf gives you the right to take shots at His chosen people?" The former response got you through toilet training - don't give up on it now. But more importantly, I want to join the Jim Richards party. |

"Gee, that's interesting....." comment. That concept cuts both ways, and applies to both sides of the border........"Perhaps I should use this new information to consider moderating my views in this and other areas".
Now the hard part..applying this......

How dumb, only in America can you wana fk yourself... Americans are a bunch of dumb sots...really now boyz your not free your all just a bunch of slaves....How many of you can quit work today, and live a comfortable life style without getting up and doing something that earns you money. See I found a way to include you boyz who own your own business. And I don't mean that you don't have responsibility either, for your financial affairs, cause with freedom comes responsibility for yourself and community. How many of you have debt loads that you have to service or they gona repoesse....including your home? So boyz when massa tell you ta pick up de stick bend over with pride...so you can pass go on payday or collect your accounts receivable.

Riiiight. So any time some half-baked article that makes totally unsupported insinuations based on a single statistical point I should file it away as "education?" Any bonehead can publish something on the internet but it does not mean I should dilute mine... Especially considering the rather inconclusive and insinuating nature of the original article you posted. The first half article never made any conclusions except to cast aspersions at the US for having a high percentage of incarcerated citizens. What does that MEAN exactly? Does it mean we imprison people who shouldn't be? Does it mean that we wrongfully convict too many? Does it mean our people are more criminally minded than other countries? THe writers and "quotees" of the article should have had the courage to make a conclusion... But of course, they CAN'T because the statistic is really meaningless without real research behind it. The second bit said that minorities make up a disproportionately large percentage of the prison population, but again, no conclusions... Could it be because the judge and juries are racist, or just that those same people participated in a disproportionate percentage of crimes? Once more, no courage to do the research and form conclusions, just making totally unsupported insinuations of the "Evils of the US". So tell me again how a couple of mathematical statistics without ANY support to make ANY conclusion should sway my opinion??... Any opinion I drew from it has a greater chance of being wrong than right. |

I feel guilty I do, I was trying to stir the pot... and still am...
But the point remains...The system locks you in...you make so much money and you live up to it. The media and government shoves it down your throat that you should spend..spend...spend...you owe it to yourself to buy that new Porsche...Zero down and 60 months to PAY PAY PAY... You buy a house and have 30 years to pay.. pay.. pay. Thats how the system controls you...by making you into wage slaves, you gota go to work to pay..pay...pay.... Once your on the tredmill you can't get off. What was the 1st thing Bushy said after 911....America don't forget to spend...spend... spend...it props up the economy.

I'd like to revisit the idea of "debtor's prison." At least the friggin' freeways will be clear then.

These books present a mindset in which one can be financially free without being dishonest or cold-hearted. This country needs to rebuild its foundation, and it starts at a personal level. If prisons had these books, would they still suck? |

Tabs,
I think your father forgot to teach you something. That is: you and you alone are responsible for the decisions you make. You don't want to pay then don't buy. Blaming the "media", "government" or "Bushy" (which I find offensive in itself) is childish, irresponsible and like "nonsequiturial" (whatever that means). People in this country are successful, overwhelmingly, because there is so much opportunity and the freedom (yes, freedom) to succeed or fail. Even failures in America are better off than 99% of the rest of the world population. Any implication that the people in this country are not grateful is just as ludicrous as blaming CBS for your monthly payment on the plasma. As far as having the freedom to quit a job. You can if you want. Millions of Americans (who aren't beneficiaries of trusts) don't get up in the morning to work. Their welfare is the burden of those of us who do get up. So don't be backfiring about "responsibility to the community". You can go on being pissed about the world becasue it doesn't fit your utopian idealism. I prefer to live in the real world and EARN new axle shafts and a parking brake cable for my piece of S**T sports car. I sleep well at night, too. |

Where's Suze? Suze Ormand, where are you? Ann Coulter too.
I'm feeling feakishly conservative and financially askew.

cstreit, you make a good point. With all the talk about the disparity among our classes, and the high percentage of people living in poverty, its easy to forget that even our poorest enjoy a standard of living unheard of in 80% of the world's population. And, they enjoy free medical (why would they care if they don't have medical insurance) and government subsidies for housing and food.
