ipod owners: 4 GB enough?
should i wait for the 4 GB mini ipod for $249 or buy a 15 GB ipod for $270?
do you find that 4 GB is enough? i would set aside 1 GB for photoshop files and dedicate the remainder to music. curious as to how much space you guys are actually using. |

My whole music library fits into just over 15 GB (I have a 20GB model). 4 GB wouldn't cut it for me.
Why bother having to sync to change what I want to listen to when I can just dump EVERYTHING into my iPod?

If you don't need the new mini iPod for its small size, then definitely go for the 15gb model.

Get the largest one you can get your hands on... you won't regret the extra space because you'll find ways to fill 'er up. Trust me.

Yup, you'll want as much space as you can possibly use, especially with paying a few hundred dollars every 18-24mo. for a new battery for it.

I call BS on that.
Apple replaces the battery for $99 flat. There are kits to replace the battery yourself for $65. If you've ever picked up a screwdriver in your life you can replace the battery yourself. Oh, and name me a single battery-operated product that doesn't ever have to have the battery replaced. ![]()

I have a rev1 iPod (ie the first version, when they first came out) and the battery is still running strong.
4gb isn't enough, unless you have a very small music library. |

I have a new 40Gb iPod and I just finished running all of my CDs through iTunes to rip them and have used 22.5Gb so 4Gb would be just too hard to choose what to take.

Adding to the refrain - size matters! Get a 20GB at least. My 20GB is up to appx 15GB already.

you can get an ipod online, for cheaper than you would find one in stores
maybe try to find some reputable sellers on ebay?

I don't have a huge record collection but I got a 20Gb ipod for christmas and am filling it up at a decent rate. I'll be using a large portion of it for photos in the future too. The ipod mini wouldn't cut it in that respect.
