Descent into He11

Last Saturday I decided to return to he11 for a short visit. So I packed up the truck and headed down the highway to he11. It was about time for a short visit anyway to see what was happening in the ole hood so to speak. But I had an alterior motive for going.

There was a junk gun auction being held down there. I call them a junk gun auction because it is a basic description catalog of stuff auction that isn't deemed to be good enough for a 10 x 12 glossy picture catalog auction. And there is really junk in these auctions, but you can always count on there being a sleeper or two mixed in with the dross. Well I found it, an 1882 Trapdoor Carbine that is covered in somekind of dried on oil, or grease???? that makes the whole thing look brown and not in very good condition. However I was able to scrape off some of the brown ***** off revealing the orginal blue beneath. So for $1350 I wind up with a $2500 to $3000 rifle that was used by the US Cavarly during the last 1/3 of the 19th Century.

Other than that it was the same ole rat race in he11, however I was surprised at how much my ole house had appreciated since I left. However my abode here has kept pace more or less as well. The one thing I do miss is the backyard and extra garage space I had at the ole house, that and the green. Otherwise this is a slower paced place to live, in he11 no one misses a trick going down the highway with people passing you when your going 85, but up here you have nitwits cutting in front of you going straight from the right lane into the left turn lane... Oh well natural selection usually take care of people like that...

I'm assuming by he11, you mean LA? The place where 99% of the population of the earth wish they lived?

Yeah, most major cities have rush hour traffic... I've driven through LV many times on the way to CO. Prolly 50 times. Have hit brutal traffic in LV many times. Guess no place is immune!

If L.A. is he11, is Vegas purgatory, or past he11?

Vegas sometimes reminds me of this:

I always thought Magic Mountain is reflective of the real L.A. - fast rides and teeming with out-of-control gang bangers.

Its called Cosmolene. Its a coating used to keep metals from corroding. Was used by the military and weapon manufacturers for shipping and storage.

Just some useless info!

I could very well be Cosmoline, but there wasn't any in the barrel. In places it was very thinly applied, which is unlike Cosmoline???

I found a guy here in LV that specializes in Trapdoors, so I took it to him. for $100 and some replacement screws it should be looking good when I get it back. I also found out from him that the book I have on the subject is worth $250.00...it's ironic that books on guns can be come collectable to.
