ha, i just checked my jar. PULP OF PLUMS! i gotta admit, i got stuff straight from the motherland. and it didnt hurt that i am chinese and my mom told me what to buy over the phone. let me know, i can send you a jar, haha. pumpkins! that is just plain crazy.

Maybe I'm just buying the cheap stuff... it's VH Plum Sauce. "Ingredients: Water, Brown Sugar, PUMPKIN, Ketchup, Vinegar, Plum Puree (WTF???), Modified Corn Starch, Tomato Paste...", and a bunch of chemicals I can't pronounce. See, pumpkin is #3 on the list and it's not pumpkin puree, or pumpkin pulp or sweepings of pumpkin, it's just pumpkin.

many products today contain it,its all therage. if grandpa or grandma has an old family recipe, the foodmakers analyze a sample, then figure out how tomake the same flavor from soybeans, prunes, corn syrup, msg, and caramel flavor.
