What would YOU do? P wrench blowing me off.....

The 356 was in need of trans rebuild....too many Mikey burnouts with higher than stock HP.... :)

I was in the middle of building a new garage and a 914/6 conversion and there was NO place to do the tear down on the 356 at MY house.

So....it went to a shop of a racer I knew that did Beemers and TypeIVs.....we pulled the trans and engine, I did the spider gears and took the top end off and found some leaky valves...... re did the heads and then I went about the garage thing and the 914/6 wrap up.

Since then, the wrench has done pretty much NOTHING....he has recently re-acquired the drinking and marching powder habit and my stuff is strewn about the shop.....

I plan on just yanking everything out of there once I can get him to finish bolting the trans in and getting it on four wheels again.....

What would YOU do?

GO GET YOUR STUFF.

BGCarrera32 02-26-2004 09:18 AM

Get a box, a truck and 2 of your largest sized friends; do it polietly on the shops off hours, but go get the stuff.

OMG, bwahhahaha. Your wrench is doing lines of coc off your cylinder heads? That's awesome, what a truly "stand-up" guy. Go over there, get your stuff and tell him "i'm done partying with you man".

john walker's workshop 02-26-2004 09:28 AM

i would suggest picking it up now, unassembled. just say you're going to do it yourself. once they're on the peruvian marching dust, there's no hope.

SandyI 02-26-2004 09:29 AM

Yikes. Go get your stuff before he starts selling it ("Dude, I swear you never brought that thing over.") to keep "marching."

MMARSH 02-26-2004 09:30 AM

MikeZ, Do you really have to ask that question? I've seen your posts to many times to know you know the answer to that question. Now go get your stuff.

Mike, I know you own a gun and bunny ears - you already know what needs to be done.

I had an entire tub at a place; they were doing more damage than good. Their attitude got progressively worse until we settled into shouting matches. One day I called and said "don't do any more work, I'm coming to pick up the car". They said "OK, you want to set up an appointment to pick it up next week or something?" .. . .to which I said "No, I'm in the truck now with a trailer behind me and two guys next to me. I'm coming to pick the car up NOW..."

Quick and surgical increases the chances of being painless.

I have some free time (or can make some) if you need a little help getting stuff out the shop.
It has gone on way to long and you have been way to nice with this guy. Its time Mikey got Franky back.

Yeah I guess I just needed a kick in the ass....

GrindingGears 02-26-2004 09:44 AM

Yeah Mike, get over there and git yer shiet. OR hook your wrench up with an eight ball and watch him work for the next 8 hours straight. He'll finish the work in one binge! :D

I used to have a friend that said "I hate cocaine I just love the way it smells."

TerryBPP 02-26-2004 09:46 AM

I'm willing to trade coke for porsche parts. I'll start posting ads like this:

WTB 3.6 liter with low miles. Needs to be complete with DME and exhaust. Willing to pay up to 1 kilo of bolivian flake.

;)

derek murray 02-26-2004 09:48 AM

go get your stuff and document everything you take... before his creditors (or 'supplier') padlock (or torch) the place.

pwd72s 02-26-2004 09:50 AM

Get thyself to the nearest serious Gym...hire a couple of "helpers"...you know, those over 6' guys who look intimidating when they stand there in a tight T shirt with arms crossed? They don't need to say or do a thing...just be there. It will make getting your stuff much easier. :D

Bring a camera. Take pics of what you find and what you load. Cover yourself should he move out of the fog and start standing on his hind legs again.

Move quick on this one. Do not alert him in advance.

True. You can get more with a gun and bunny ears than you can with just a gun.

Grady Clay 02-26-2004 10:05 AM

Mike,

Hire your local flat-bed tow truck for the car. Pull it on with a floor jack on the torsion bar tube and set it on some tires. Just get it out fast.

I agree with Dave;
“Quick and surgical increases the chances of being painless.”
And BG;
Get a box, a truck and 2 or MORE of your largest sized friends; do it politely on the shop’s off hours, but go get the stuff.

Bring someone to unobtrusively video the whole scene. Carry a microcassette recorder in your pocket.

If you think there is the potential for violence, your local police/sheriff will stand by – out of sight on in plain view.

If he wants money, pay with a credit card or personal check … you get the idea.

If for some reason you can’t get the car and stuff, get a good video documentation of what you have there and it’s condition. You might have to go to court and will need documentation.

Good luck.

Best,
Grady
