Very nice. Your son will thank you when he grows up (if hes not already). It's very useful to know at least basic car maintenance and repair. Who knows whats to come in 20 years....chief Porsche mechanic at 24 heures du mans? :D

Hey! If it weren't for Shawns cute kid..I'd never get my picture posted! (just kidding :) ..but the kid is still cute)

Mark..very cool. You are very lucky to have a son who is serious enough and has the attention span....rare in kids that age. I asked for 555 at a DE once and got the numbers. I'm going to ask for it as my permanent number (you Chi-PCA punks better not think about asking for it! it's mine!)....it was a good weekend with 555! And the car you see in the corner of the picture Ester posted is Chris' car.

As for how I got the car bug (since we are talking of such things)...shoot! I don't know when it happened, but I hated it when my dad made me help him fix the family car. It was not for fun and he had to do it...to keep it on the road. Crap, it was a Pinto! (we had three over the course of my childhood) We were so poor it is funny looking back. Cripes, may dad used vise grips on just about everything, and I even remember a butter knife in his bucket of tools, the universal screw driver. There is no reason why I should even like working on cars, but I can't stop. I'd rather work on cars than sit at my desk working on mult-million dollar projects. The major reason I went to engineering school was because I wanted to get a job int he auto industry.

So Richard...don't sweat it. The switch could trip any day in your son, and you'll be screaming and yelling at him for sneaking off on the Ducati or in the 993...then you'll wish he had other interests :D

Hi Sarah! I was wondering where you've been...car is sleeping so you stay away huh? :( ..... :D

My 8 yr old daughter volunteers to clean my back window. She likes that she can fit back there with the full cage. At the rate she is growing up, that won't last long.

Hi Souk,

It has been hit & miss with me getting on to Pelican the last couple of months. I've been scanning topics more lately though.

We visited my bugged eyed baby ;) (aka...930) this past weekend. The trani is done and the engine work is almost completed and the misc things will be done once everything is put back together. It should be ready mid-april. With the weather being a bit warmer the last couple days...it has really been giving me the itch to get back behind the wheel. You know it is getting scary when i'm driving the explorer and pretending it is the porsche...;) :) ;)

Hope you & your gal and the porsche are all doing good. :)

My 7 year old already is bugging me about driving. He asks if he can shift from time to time, and the other day asked if he gets to have the car when he turns 16. I told him it will be almost 35 years old at that point...he didn't seem to care.

Now if I could get him interested in *fixing* instead of driving...then I'd be onto something.
