Selling race karts is a pain in the a$$ Toby. Best way I've found is to put it in your local club's classified section. I've tried the online BBSs and Recycler and haven't had much luck in the past. Might try craiglist also.

I'm gonna look into a Rotax Max 125 soon... do they run many up there in the Bay area?

Take it to the track. That's where first timers are likely to show up and they'll buy. Especially if it's priced under the local shop, which it appears to be. BTW, most shops will sell it for a commission, won't they?

The problem with the karting publications is long turn around time. It can take a month for an ad to appear in the mags and newsletters.

Good thought on posting it here. Try the 914CLUB as well. A lot of the members are from NorCal.

i have posted it in a couple kart club classified as of yesterday, so i've got some hope yet.

richard, the rotax runs often with the parilla, they are pretty even performance wise. the rub is that the work you can do on a rotax yourself is very limited. the motors have to be worked on (tear down rebuild, carb work and such) by a factory certified shop and resealed with these metal tabs that confirm who has done the work. if event hosting clubs do not find the motor to have these certified shop deals on them you cant run. they will let you race the event, but no points or placement trophy. i would recommend a parilla set up, very big and growing class, real reliable. its a money issue that forces my sale.

Hmm... Cart racing? Don't know much about it, but sounds great! Can a big guy fit in your cart? (6'2"- 210lbs.) Where do you race?

Funny. Parilla class growing. The classes evolve and evolve back. I had a Parilla in an enduro kart in 1971 hooked up to a quick change gear set. No chain, no belt, engine clutch. Ran that one at Riverside and Ontario as well as the old orange County Raceway at the 5 and Alton Parkway. Except Alton wasn't there then.

That's Karting with a "K" is'nt it?
I remember racing at a couple good indoor tracks in Fremont and Palo Alto(?). Both were good, but 4hp made all the difference in the lines. Fun as H#ll, and a sweat machine with the wheel.
I'd probably buy one with tracks 15 miles away and the cars towable with a 1.8L 4-banger. It is a back-breaker to operate though, and the narrow seats limit the seat times to under 1/2 hour shifts.

moses the kart im selling is not set up currently for that height but has plenty of adjustment and set up room. there are guys your size running in some of the smaller motor wise classes. you can run them in stockton, marina (near monterey) atwater (out on 99 in the valley), and sears point/infinion.

mike i have posted on nor cals site and will be doing it elsewhere now that I have some pics. see below

Moses, The seat for the kart is custom fitted to you back end. You also don't use safety belt as the seat sucks you in.

A friend has a near new 125 cc (Paul) Tracy shifter kart that he just doesn't have time to sell. The whole setup just sits in his garage. He's moved on to Formula Mazda.

BTW, there is a classified section on Paul Tracy's website.
