alternator warning light...Loose fan belt

Recently rebuilt my alternator on 70T but the light still comes on at idle but goes out at higher RPMS.

I suspect my fan belt is loose. where do I place the shims to tighten it? thanks.

You take a shim out from between the pulleys and stack it on the outside. There should always be 6 no matter where you have them.

A loose belt should not give you problems at idle. There is not much resistance at low speeds. When you build up rpm's is when it starts to slip in most cases.

Why is this off topic?
