Any Blues Fans?
Just sitting here in front of the CATIA tube, headphones on, kickin' back to some old Elmore James. Dust My Broom, Shake Your Money Maker, The 12 Year Old Boy, Done Somebody Wrong, etc. etc. Good stuff. When that's done, I'm gonna que up the Joe Williams, maybe the Muddy Waters, or the T-Bone Walker, or... it's all good stuff.

Big Blues fan. Robert Lockwood died the other day. 91 years old and learned the blues from Robert Johnson himself..

Any of the Kings (especially Albert). Blind Lemon Jefferson if you want to go way back. Muddy rules.

You want Blues?
Get Sirius satellite radio and go to channel 74. Ever since I found that station I have never changed it except for traffic. Well worth the 12 bucks a month.

Taj Mahal used to host a blues show every Thursday night on HBO or something. It's been off the air for years now, and I still really miss it. I guess I'm rather surprised (and dissapointed) that the blues don't enjoy a wider audience these days. It would be nice to find a station that devoted at least some time to it.
If nothing else, you just gotta love the names. Where else are you going to find a "Blind Lemon Jefferson", or Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broonzy, Lightnin' Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, Precious Bryant, Howlin' Wolf, Leadbelly, and on and on.

Big Blues fan, here! As for the "new school" (dare I say), I just saw the Black Keys live for the third time a couple weeks ago. As for the early stuff: Muddy, Howlin', Billy, Robert...I love it all!

I don't mind BB King, but have always found him to be more of a "showman" than a "bluesman". My favorites are John Lee Hooker & Howlin' Wolf. If I'm in the garage & working till 3-4 am, I find Albert Collins is tops. Anyone have the John Lee Hooker & Canned Heat album "Hooker & Heat"? It's fantastic, I managed to find it on vinyl 2 years ago, along with Howlin Wolf's "London Sessions". $2 & $10.

Too bad the Blues artists can't make any money at it. You see some big names playing some small venues.
I listen to the old masters but Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Thackery, Johnny Lang, Tommy Castro etc spend time in my changer also. Jim

I'm a big blues fan, both the old and new stuff. I was involved with our local 'blues society' for several years (putting on shows & festivals), and it just doesn't get any better. If you want to have a 'blues experience' of a lifetime, spend a week on the 'bluescruise' (Taj is always on board). My g/f and I have been on a few and it's just a grand old time....

Find a good assortment of stuff from the three King's. Im totally hooked on Freddie Kings stuff these days. Try to find his acoustic version of Dust My Broom. Freddie was just crazy good.
Here's a some Hideaway action from youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZHPpzVql4T8 Look at Gatemoth Brown dancing around with the Ric in the background ![]() More youtube action, Albert King and SRV, Match Box Blues: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KLKEGB0QFQY |

IMO, Freddie is the king of the 'Kings', followed by Albert, then BB...but I like them all!

I probably listen to Freddie the most, but I think Albert had the biggest influence on other musicians. To me, all three are still just amazing in their own right. Big thanks to the Englishmen who introduced us all to these guys

Nothin better than "da blues"!!! Sirius 74 is the best.
A couple "not-as-well-knowns" to check out...... Sue Foley from Austin- best voice since Patsy Cline and belts out blues that give you goose bumps. The female version of Stevie Ray Vaughn; check out her albums "Big City Blues" or "love comin down" Corey Harris- Great bluesman from Louisiana-(Blues w/cajun spices) check out albums "fish aint bitin" or "Mississippi Tamale" |

Started out with a reggae band, played my own stuff and songs by Marley, Toots and the Maytals etc.
Then I found the Blues, or maybe the blues found me. Big fan of all the old guys but also some of the more contemporary like Stevie Ray Vaugn, Robben Ford.
