Saddam's Personal Oil Tanker ......
Saddam's Gold Tanker Truck...where they found some of the the money he was trying to escape with. If you look at the pallet of gold bars you will see that there are 7 bars in each stack, 4 stacks in each row, and 8 rows. That's 224 bars at about 20 lbs each, which is 4480 lbs or 71,680 ounces. At $350.00 per ounce, that is $25,088,000.00 worth of gold on the pallet. Imagine how much more is inside .......

how would you feel if you there (in the army) with all that loot and knowing you only made 20-30 grand a year in the military.
very enticing to take a couple of those gold bars, wouldn't you think? I say, split the money among all those men/women in uniform who are serving. 1 gold bar a piece. |

A whole tanker truck to move $25mil? Wouldn't a wire transfer have been easier lol?
Still, it's less than some U.S. execs got as their christmas bonus.

I wonder who writes these things (and why)? I suppose if you get away with a viral internet hoax you feel relatively clever. Once you figure out it is not gold, it is no longer certain whether it (the tanker or the metal) is Saddam's either.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1843201.stm I'm glad someone here already checked the legitimacy of this story. I was wondering about it myself as I thought about how filling that tanker half full of gold would be a bit more more weight than it was designed for. With people so eager to eat this stuff up I can see why so many americans still cling to our current regime's WMD BS. |

Well, this thread is certainly proof of that. There is no reason our government needs to produce high quality propaganda. Look at how well this BS is making the rounds.
Speaking of people fooling people, arn't you one of the people who think there are still massive stockpiles of saddam's WMDs sitting around somewhere? |

If it was/is real... Id be scraping that stuff into my boots like Andy Dufrane. You could even pick your nails later and get some good profits.

jurgen PS> $1B in gold is 178,000 pounds of gold. It would take a lot more than a tanker truck to haul. |

...riiiiigggght...... So first it was part of the "Master Plan"... ...now apparently we're ALL contributing to the propaganda. It took what, 10 minutes to de-bunk? Oh and aren't you one of the people who believed a proven murdering dictator when confronted with the overwhelming rhetoric of the Untied Nations said "Oh, okay I'll get rid off all my WMD's because you asked so persistently. I bow to your superior insistance." GImmee a break dude. |

Some of us don't need to listen to saddam know whats been going on over the past decade in the middle east.
For every web site like this one where that story is debunked who knows how many thousands of sites and e-mails pass it on unchallenged. Propaganda does not require that every person who passes it on is aware that its false. What is required is that it propagates, which is the reason why its the word's latin base. The above story certainly qualifies. |

I am suprised that you conspiracy theorists have not concluded that there was gold...it was replaced with brass...and the gold is safely tucked away in Crawford Texas.
