I listened as much as I could. I think they will have better luck with their other hosts. He is so monotone it hurt to listen. I liked some of his SNL, but it just doesn't come accross well on the radio. If not for his guests, nothing of substance would have been discussed. I don't know, maybe thats what you left leaning guys want, lots of skits. In fairness, this is kinda a pre-production show right? I read it was 90% scripted? If it does well I'de be shocked. I think BigEddie is your best bet. Problem with him is he doesn't appeal to the SUV loathing gun blaming part of the left, but he does have a good radio presence. I listen to him atleast 3 days a week, somtimes I don't even vomit:)

FOX does not do news; they are not reporters, they are commentators, mostly if not completely right of Attila the Hun; always talking about the liberal bias of the media. What a joke............

OReilly had Koppell on and tried to get Koppell to "opine". Koppell told Bill that he (Koppell) was a reporter and not a commentator, and what his personal thoughts were or how he voted was none of the public's (or ORielly's) business. Gotta love it.....

It's definitely a matter of perspective. Conservatives listen to FOX News and think that it's reasonably balanced, (I guess?), I consider them unfunny comedians and bullys. Al Franken is a funny guy who admits that he's a comedian, yet he has his facts straighter than "professional journalist" Bill O'Reilly. :rolleyes:

Dissention is healthy in a free society, flag-waving jingoism is not. Jingoism is not to be confused w/ actual patriotism. Franken once said that conservatives love their country like a small child loves his parents, ie. it can do no wrong/blind love. Leftists love their country in an adult way, seeing it for its faults as well as its strengths, and having the courage to try to change it even if it means going up against entrenched, powerful interests that will fight to the death to keep the status quo.

Al knows that there is nothing on earth more fun than baiting stupid rednecks like O'Reilly and Hannity, this is going to be a breath of fresh air in these gloomy times. I also like that Franken does lots of USO tours, entertaining the troops overseas. Like me, he doesn't blame soldiers for foreign policy and he has great admiration for them. Let's bring them home as soon as possible. :cool:

We have been saying that about CNN MSNBC etc.. for years. At least the options exist now. I mean comeon, when I was a kid I thought the Mclaughlin group was mainstream. Now I know.

Another example of perspective, I guess, would be attempts to divert political/social phenomena discussions back to Clinton's blowjob. Republicans: It wasn't important then, in times of peace, prosperity and good relations w/ allies, it sure as hell isn't relevent now. :)

Fox does have news shows. They also have shows such as you refer to...where the personalities are indeed commentators and they readily admit that...unlke the "news" shows on other channels which try to fool the public into believing they are somehow just reporting balanced facts.
Some of Fox's shows have resident liberals (like Alan Combs) with equal opportunity to "opine." Almost all Fox shows are designed in a debate format and have open invitations for folks like Al Franken, etc to come on and debate (just like coinservative talk radio)...of course they decline. It is much easier to provide hit-and-run soundbites to the a liberal press who will not question their lack of facts or their motives.

It was Mike Moore that pointed out that whereas Fox DOES have liberals on its network (Colmes, Geraldo), they are the most laughable, uncharismatic liberals this side of Dukakis. Colmes, as a TV personality, unfortunately isn't even in the same league as Hannity. I have nothing but respect for the man, but I believe his inclusion in the show is akin to how Phillip Morris's anti-smoking ads contain non-smoking kids that are so nerdy that any kids who see the advertisement will immediately take up smoking...

Combs does alright, but listen to his radio show once. He is MUCH more left than he comes accross on TV.

as I said...they have an open invitation...the ones that step up are indeed laughable...and they represent liberal America.....I give Combs credit. At least he has the nads to debate. His job is tough, because his side of the issues in impossible to defend against real ideas. Guys like Michael Moore rely on an uniformed populace and live by the "drive-by-shooting" soundbite technique where facts are unnecessary. That is why they need to buy radio shows instead of competing open market...their ideas just won't sell when confronted with a few facts.

To be fair, Hannity is also guilty of drive by tactics. he is not one of my favorites. He is well intentioned, but he appeals more to the gotcha loving crowd. This does not mean he doesn't make good points every now and then. For instance, it is true that in the initial days of the Iraqi war he was reporting "we have found WMD's" every couple days, based on sketchy info. He is just too anxious. My favorite, hmmm maybe JP:)

I agree, that is why I advocate dividing time between Fox and the other sources. Gives both sides...If they present contradictory "facts".....then I research them independently.

All of you conservatives should listen to Air America w/ an open mind. I listen to Hannity, O'Reilly, Larry Elders, etc. on a regular, (if not daily), basis. 99% of the time they are FOS, lying, corporate spokesman gasbags, but once in a while a tiny kernel of truth slips past their filter.

Alan Colmes is a pathetic foil for Hannity, any strong and intelligent person could destroy him by simply countering his assertions w/ facts. He is not an informed person by any stretch.

As for FOX doing "news programs", :rolleyes: , if you call parroting administration talking points and using propagandist slogans straight from Karl Rove "news", that would explain your definition of "Fair and Balanced", "Liberal media", etc....

Franken is just a dope. The guy spouts rhetoric and half truthes almost like he has Hillary's hand up his ass making his mouth move.
