Sup, no. I was referring to my teacher hence the :) You're just ignorant:) Emphasis on :)

Superman 04-02-2004 07:36 AM

Okay, that's better. Candidly, since it seems obvious to me that income level and political party affiliation MUST be fairly strongly correlated (I expect poor people are more liberal), and since income and education are positively correlated, it seems like it would be a longshot to make the assertion I have made. But I have heard this from several people "in the know" so I'll continue to check it out. Thanks for keeping me....ummmm....honest. And not just ignorant. (winking face goes here)

lendaddy 04-02-2004 07:38 AM

Glad you got my little multi-level joke there.

Superman 04-02-2004 07:47 AM

I'm a Liberal. Of course I "get it."

LOL

I heard the whole thing; 30 minutes of Joe Biden being interviewed, (WTF can't HE run for pres??), and then 30 minutes of Richard Clarke calling in. Air America may or may not succeed commercially, since "nobody ever got rich overestimating the taste/intelligence of the American people", , but you cannot compare it with Rush Limbaugh. There was a great deal of moderate commentary by Biden, (such as disagreeing w/ Franken and making some very flattering comments about Bush as well as critical ones), it was a fascinating insider's take on D.C. by a really well-travelled Senator. Limbaugh would never have a guest that would "set him straight" on the facts, Franken seemed to welcome it.

It was the first time that I have heard Clarke's voice, thought I have read about him for months, (I don't generally watch TV), if the administration is trying to paint him as flakey or unhinged in any way they have a problem. He came off as brilliant, possessing a dry wit when discussing Condi Rice and her claims of their (non) meetings, it was radio at its best. Rush is radio at its worst, when I listen to him I always want the minutes of my life back afterwards and feel like it's made me dumber.

Denis, Enjoy while you can. I suspect this show will leave the air shortly after the November election. I read it as just another way to buy campaign ads for the Dems...

Maybe we overestimated how long Liberal Liar Radio (or is it Err America?) would last. They already can't pay their bills and are dropping markets? Just like liberals to promise things they cannot provide......funny how different it is when you have to use your own money. Franken should stick to his stand-up routine.....oh wait that is what he is doing!

Quite a spin there fint.

Cancelling a check to a station that is trying to double bill for broadcasting time is not the same thing as not being able to pay one's bills.

Then again by now most of us are wise enough to not take any of your posts seriously. ;)

fintstone 04-15-2004 02:39 PM

No spin. Read the article. According to the article, in one market, the check had bounced"

"Arthur Liu, the owner of Multicultural, which is based in New York, was quoted on the Web site of The Chicago Tribune yesterday afternoon as saying that he had taken the action after his company tried to cash a check from Air America and it bounced."

In the other market, the other owner could not be paid because there was a "stop payment" on the check.

Sounds like financial difficulty to me...It was enough for the stations to take them off the air!

fintstone 04-15-2004 02:43 PM

And from another article:
"They bounced a check today. It's a default. They have paid only a very small portion of what they owe us," Multicultural owner Arthur Liu told the Chicago Tribune, which also reports the amount Multicultural is owed is more than $1 million, which includes a security deposit that was supposed to have been prepaid by Air America prior to launch. "They've been saying, 'We're going to get you the money' for the past two months," Liu said. "They're not honoring our agreement."

350HP930 04-15-2004 02:49 PM

Well, when you try to cash a check that has been cancelled it bounces.

Quote:

Mr. Cohen, however, said that Multicultural owed money to Air America. He said that Mr. Liu's company had recently deposited a check from Air America for $315,000, and that it had cleared. But Mr. Cohen said that Air America had stopped payment on a second check, for $156,000, after Air America discovered that Multicultural had leased air time on its Los Angeles station to another programmer in February and March, before Air America went on the air on March 31.

While not broadcasting during that time, Mr. Cohen said, Air America had already leased that time from Multicultural and was thus entitled to any fees collected.
Sounds like a pretty legit contractual dispute to me.

fintstone 04-15-2004 03:05 PM

Sounds like a cash flow problem to me. Must be tough to have to buy on-air time instead of getting paid for it!

fintstone 04-21-2004 07:08 AM

Guess you know by now that I was right. Air America will be off the air in Chicago and LA on Apr 30. Didn't pay their bills and then lied about it. Of course you guys have probably quit listening to those losers by now anyways.
On the bright side..I'm sure they will be back...The Dems cannot pass up such an opportunity to bypass election funding rules. Imagine paying for a 24/7 democrat commercial and not calling it a campaign contribution. Too bad for them it sucks so bad that noone will listen.

lendaddy 04-21-2004 07:34 AM

Now now Flint, it's not nice to kick O'Franken while he's down. It is funny to me however since it shows just how little the "powers that be" in the democratic party understand business. If there had been true demand for this it would have been created via demand as a profitable business a long time ago. You don't BUY airtime, you sell it. Just hillarious:) But then again if the Soros millions are funding it they wont care, they'll just pull the plug after the election IF:) it isn't self sustaining.

fintstone 05-31-2004 05:51 AM

I guess things are so bad that Franken is working for free. Things seem to be going as predicted.

lendaddy 05-31-2004 06:42 AM

Indeed, I have rethought my Soros funding on this too. This "thing" is not going to generate a single vote, so why fund it? I listened to it for fun for a couple weeks, then it just got sooo predictible and bland it lost even it's humor factor. In all seriousness, why is it that no, zero, nada statistics have been released on this network? Average listeners, age, etc... Sad display so far, but there seems to only be one foot in the grave at this point, who knows.
