Wheel Clock Project

Thanks to Mike Kast for the free wheel.

I took my grinder to the sucker tonight and hacked off the barrel.
When I get a free day, I'm gonna hit a tire shop and dig though the old tire heap and find a suitable 17" tire to cut to match the wheel.

I haven't figured out how I'm going to make the tire sit next to the lip of the wheel yet... something will come to me.

Next step is to secure a small quartz mov't clock and hand set from a local hobby shop.

I can't decide to paint the wheel or if I should strip and polish it.

Cool! I vote to keep it silver, and leave as-is (no tire).

Yup, leave it as-is. It looks great!

Just drill a small hole in the center-cap for the clock shaft and you're golden.

The disk you wanted is in the back of my car. All I have to do is get it in the mail. Sorry this has taken so long but the move has been burly.

It looks good as is but I'm thinking the addition of a tire would really make it cool. Try it and see. If it doesn't look good, no loss, just keep it as is.

Yeah Tom, that's what I am thinking too... if it doesn't look good, I'll just take it off.

Gary,
At this point, don't worry about the rotor. When I cut the barrel, I forgot to leave room for the rotor, so not It won't fit right.

I kinda like the look of the bent wheel clock. How much does she charge for those?

You would have to ask my ex. I believe they range in price from $300 on up. His name is Don Haney and he used to work here at Pelican but not any more. I can pass his phone number via pm to me.
