Want your 15 minutes? Abduct yourself

Police Suggest Wisconsin Abduction Story a Hoax
1 hour, 13 minutes ago Add U.S. National - AP

By TODD RICHMOND, Associated Press Writer

MADISON, Wis. - Police strongly suggested Friday that a college student's tale of being kidnapped at knifepoint was a hoax, saying she researched places to hide and bought rope and duct tape to make it look like an abduction.

"We do not believe there is a suspect at large, period," Assistant Police Chief Noble Wray said.

Surveillance video showed University of Wisconsin sophomore Audrey Seiler, 20, walking out of her apartment early Saturday wearing only sweats. She was found Wednesday in a marsh about two miles away — cold and dehydrated but otherwise unharmed.

Wray said police had videotape showing Seiler buying duct tape, rope and cold medicine, all items she had claimed her abductor used to restrain her. She also used her computer to search Web sites for information about Madison parks and the extended weather forecast, Wray said.

Wray said the check of her computer also indicated someone had used it during the four days Seiler was missing, and at least two witnesses said they had seen her walking freely in the city during that time.

-WTF?!! Talk about sick in the head.

These people must feel stupid right now.

Therapy???? Oh yeah! Sure. Like enough hours of forced labor to repay the taxpayers for the costs entailed...and her daddy should blister her ass!

Her parents need to pay. They didn't give her enough attention.

Let them pay for the police jumping thru hoops for four days. I'm sure the agencies can come up with an amount. In these days of declining revenues, the taxpayers in Wisconsin should sue to recover the waste of very valuable resources.

Fine bit of police work, BTW.

EDIT: It was just announced that the amount is $70,000.

Mom, Dad...... Go get that second mortgage, and come back with certified funds please!

Why should her parents pay?

She's in sophmpore in college right? That makes her about what, 19? 20? An adult in any case. Sounds like she'll start school with a whopper of a debt.

...but you're innocent untill proven guilty, so the state should sue for fraud to recover. Obviously she needs help if this is true.

The real victims in this crime are:
1. White males in late 20's or early 30's wearing jeans and a hat!
This moron caused every one of them in the area to be an armed suspect, until proven innocent.

2. All taxpayers. The FBI, State and local LE were all involved.
She should be billed just like the IRS does to delinquents.

3. Anyone who watched more than 10 minutes of this story and believed her.
