Who wants to help me play with this guy??
Quick background:
Selling my wife's 2000 Chrysler 300M via a couple of different venues. Low and behold, Mr. Don Wilson, buyer's agent, wants to offer me the deal of a lifetime...you all know the drill from here. I could just delete the email and be done with it...but I am feeling rather 'festive'. How about we play a game with this guy? Here's his email: Hello Jerry, Sorry for my late response, i was out of town but i am back. Thank you for your update and prompt response. Due to time constraint on the fact that we are running short of time and considering that our company have done a lot of good purchases on internet mostly from autotrader site without a problem, i am delighted to tell you that my client has commended your vehicle and he has instructed me to carry on with this transaction, he also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $16,500, which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client. Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you ,because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque. So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle $10,300 when payment gets to you and refund balance $6,200 to the shipper via western union money transfer for him to be able to offset shipping charges. After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers) and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer. Confirm this and forward your Names, Address and Phone number for payment to be made to you as soon as possible. Best regards to you and your family. Donald NOTE:This deal can be cancelled if by the time of pick and vehicle is found to deviate from the condition you notified in autotrader

You need a 3rd party to e-mail the guy offering to buy it from him for a large premium....leading him on to believe that the car has a value that is far greater than just for the car. You allude to the fact that the car was once owned by a drug dealer and your third party basically winds up telling him there is a grreat deal of cash is hidden in the car.... OH how do I think of these things.

Of the thousands of members on this board, I figured you would give one of the most 'Out of the box' ideas....
![]() I can't even begin to fathom how the 'inner Tabs' works ![]() ...but I like your idea!

Perhaps I am just suspicious by nature, but this kinda sounds like the old scam "I'm sorry but we have to send you this cheque that is too big, can't help it you know.. but just give us a cheque for the balance and everything will be OK" Am I being paranoid?

I went through the same scam a while back. I actually received the cashier's check! After the bank told me it was forged(surprise!), I emailed the guy back and told him I was unable to wire money to the address he gave me, but was sure glad he bought the car.
I then went on to tell him I was glad to have the much needed cash, and was buying airline tickets and going on vacation for a month. I haven't heard from him in over six weeks! Have some fun with him, Jerry!

Perhaps the hack could be pursuaded to have his bogus cashier's check made out to "Mr. & Mrs. Al Queda" and sent USPS (if local) to the mailing address of a regional FBI or postal inspector office.
At least cost him some coin on next day air. Use his account number to send him a brick painted gold. Good luck, Bob

Ask him to send the check overnight as you have another interested buyer. When it arrives email back & claim he forgot to sign it so can he please send another ASAP. If another arrives say that its not dated, or your name is mispelt etc etc.

Get the check, send him the "doll hairs" back, as well as the car-a paper cutout model.
"well my banks policy doesn't process any tranaction other than $49.95 so you'll have to send a bunch of checks or cut a piece out of yours accordingly". Oooh. He seems like such a nice, busy guy though. |
