I'd like to squeeze in a short three or five day vacation with my wife. Thinking about a 3 or 5 day cruise out of Los Angeles, to Mexico. Anyone done these? Any reccommendations for these type of cruise lines and/or destinations? Thanks!

We did the 4 day Carnival cruise LA to Ensenada. I'd give the whole trip a C-. Food is mediocre and the ship, Holiday, was old. Lots of engine noise and propeller vibration. We also disliked the on deck servers who would pester you to purchase the $8 foo-foo drink of the day every 15 minutes. This was our only cruise experience but we've been told this particuar cruise was very low rent. I would have to agree - but then we didn't pay much to go.
Saddest sight is to watch the "herd" of plus sized folks line up for the midnight buffet. All that food after a multi-course dinner ![]() |

My wife & I did that Cruise, we found out that we are not cruise people.
We went w/ a group of forty, and if it weren't for that we would have hated it. We just weren't into being stuck on the boat and having everything so scheduled. We might do it again if it was a big group like that, we had fun b/c of the people we were with, but we would never do it on our own.

i did a carnival cruise with the girlfriend. not what i expected. the food sucked and you couldnt even complain about it. because everyone else at the tables were raving about it! didnt want to be the food snob i obviously am. nothing worse than overcooked lobster. what a waste! i didnt give up hope yet, only on carnival. very low rent. never again on that boat. better to pony up the money for a better ride!

Man, I'm way too jumpy to be stuck on a boat. Why not a cruise in the Porsche to one of Cailfornia's hundreds of destinations?

I've heard Carnival is kind of hokey, but that's heresay. My wife & I did a Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon that was amazing. Food, people, locations, events were awesome! You DO pay extra for certain activities, but we knew that ahead of time and planned for it - did some, relaxed on other days. All-in-all it was great though - I'd highly recommend them.
