The future is here: BMW. Mini. Robot?

http://www.r50rd.co.uk/research/internal/v2i/engin/

A friend of mine showed this to me tonight and I'm impressed and amazed. Very cool stuff. I'm sure those of you that are even more knowledgeable in mechanics/electronics will be even more impressed.

It's like Robocop but cooler. Well, ok, definately not cooler.

Have I been in a cave the last 10-15 years or is this as futuristic as it seems? I'm up in communication news but I didn't think we've come as far.

For those of you that have limited understanding, just watch the videos. Stopping the car is my favorite. Absolutely incredible. I can do little programming and even if it was programmed only to see the object coming, recognize it as the car, react and then stop it with the proper movements it is very impressive.

Then there is the BMW/Mini factor. Supposedly some of the technology used to develop this robot went into the Mini which was partly designed by this same guy. Unless I missed a post, it seems like something this big would be more known and talked-about.

Well, let's hear it. Enjoy.

Serge
