Driving like an *********.

I've been in a really awful mood for the past couple of days. It might have something to do with my tax returns and how much I got boned for this year, but it was coming on for a day or so before my accountant gave me the bad news. Lets' just say I owe more than my 911 is worth.

So, with my give-a-***** factor at a low mark, I've been driving my pickup like an ass. I cut people off, run lights and just basically do the same stuff that happens to me daily. Now I'm the one getting the finger and the horn. Funny, doesn't phase me one bit. Now I know why there are so many jerks on the road. They don't care.

I'm actually calmer being the offender. Don't worry, I'll snap out of it in due time and drive right. But what a revelation. It could be perverse fun.

What kind of pickup should we all be looking for??????

I can empathise with the tax thing. It does seem like everyone in SoCal has a short fuse lately. I am going to stay out of the political discussion threads and see if that calms me back down.

In the meantime, I'll be watching for you!

Too funny!

I've gotten over flicking the bird. My new reaction is to clap my hands loud and obnxiously....applauding their stupidy.

For example, this morning I was driving around westwood, some a-hole in his lexus is300 (i think, who knows what it was) is raring down on my bumper (fast), he swerves around me, cuts in front of me, only to slam his brakes hard at the red light that awaits. Fuucker...

So I start clapping and smile as i say something to the effect of... "That move really got you ahead didn't it ahole...sign this guy up! the next schumacher....dont worry your car only rolled 10 degrees to the left and right when you swerved around me...piece of shiet..yadda yadda"

He double takes (looking in his mirror) and gives me a thumbs up as i'm clapping and smiling right back at him.

I'm over flicking the bird: a) b/c it's so common it has lost its effect and b) i don't want to get shot.

clap away gents!

Just don't hit my baby, I'm in your neighborhood! You know what'd be good therapy though, wait for some self-absorbed jackass in one of those monstrous luxury SUVs to bully his way in front of you or otherwise piss you off (usually isn't too hard, they seem to do it by mere presence), then cut his ass off and STAND on the brakes. That's good fun.

If you're looking to be totally reckless (I'm not advocating this), you could always fill the back of it with rusting landscape equipment and old busted up furniture you collect dumpster diving, not tie anything down and then go bombing up the 710 freeway like all the illegalles around here - that's one thing that gets my blood boiling, especially when I'm on a motorcycle; those guys don't realize that if so much as a plastic bucket comes loose and hits someone on a bike (or if you hit one riding) you could VERY easily lose control and have someone get killed. . .

Grrrrr. Sorry about the rant, just seemed appropriate.

yeah - it's all SUV and pickup drivers who drive like A-holes ..... I've never seen, say, an 18-year old girl with an attitude in a 50MPG Neon drive like an A-hole in traffic ....

That is classic Philip. If they do something boneheaded then look at me, I act retarded, they usually get the message. Whenever someone flips me off, I wave & smile like they're an old friend. I think that irritates them more that returning the bird.

The 18 year old in the Neon I chalk up to immaturity and lack of experience.

The SUV drivers well they are just Morons that think the road belongs to them and only them and they merely suffer your existence.

Yep, although it would be amusing to turn this into another SUV-bashing thread, I'll just say that there's too much "I'm a bad-ass and better than you" attitude that inherently goes into owning an SUV than probably any other type of vehicle. Either that or just blatant incosideration for everyone else out there (not to mention the environment). The old "I don't care if I put everyone else out there at a 80% higher risk of injury or death in a crash - I NEED to have my SUV to protect my baby!!!" or "it's nice to know it's there if I need it" or whatever other lame-ass excuses people make for buying these gas-pigging behemoths.

Just my $0.02. Honestly, what the hell goes through these people's heads?!?! Do they think they're going to encounter a random 5' deep mud hazard or stretch of urban off-roading or between their house and the local strip mall or their kids' soccer practice? Puh-LEEZE!!!

I friggin' can't stand SUVs. I hope they all die.

Only two things I've learned in life:
(1) Never underestimate the human brain's capacity to rationalize whatever it wants to believe
(2) NEVER underestimate the potential damage that can be done by a large number of stupid, highly motivated people.

I think both observations tie into SUV ownership rather well, don't you?
