Please re-name this forum

Used to be, we could come here and bang our heads about 'testing pics' and 'random pics' and other misc, useless, no worries... JUNK! Not to mention other FUN stuff.

These days, seems the 'Off Topic' forum is a 'Political Stomping Ground'.

sad times, sad times

There should be a 'Political Forum' added.

LOL! I was thinking a similar thing the other day.

It's being over-run!

we should give everyone their own forum (or at least tabs). Kinda like the guy here:

http://www.vidiars.com/x-static/forum/

If you check out "Levon's Chair", you'll get the idea. Here's what happens when I try to go there:

I made all of two posts responding (politely) to his ramblings/conspiracy theory concerning another website and was promptly banned...I can't even view *any* of the forums now. Kind of ironic that nostatic is banned from the xstatic site

I'm hoping it'll all get back to what used to be normal after the election. Anybody noticed the number of newbies making political comments on various off topic forums these days? Makes me wonder if any of them are from "party headquarters"...of either side.

The war (or whatever you want to call it) and the political scene is on everyone's mind. Lots of frustration to vent. Nice to have a place to do it and it's even nicer for Wayne to allow his space to be taken up with this stuff.

I would much prefer a time in history when the world is in less turmoil. Does anyone know when that might have been?

Maybe there should be a poilitical forum, distinct from the general off topic forum.

There are probably plenty of other places for political "discussions" to say it politely. There have been some good ideas and links from this forum in the past though.
pwd72s, I was thinking the same, although most of the people on this board have been smart enough not to get involved in the politics

well, he was a member of some other online music communities (Unicornation, rec-pit, etc) and I had an appreciation for some of his posts. But he totally went off the deep end once he got his own "place", and now he just bans anyone who doesn't agree with him. Interesting dynamic...

It was not too long ago that a political thread was censored from this site because some pain in the ass reader raised hell with wayne and/or the management about it.

I have a lot of gratitude that the owner of this board allow us to use this place to have random discussions and I think that political threads are a natural occurance in any OT forum. I would even go as far as arguing that OT forums are the equivalent of an information age 'public square' and for that reason political discussion should be accepted in such an environment.

I would just like to suggest that people try to keep a posts about a particular subject on the same thread. It sucks to have 5 different threads to discuss what people think of clarke and/or the 9/11 commision.

For this reason my friendly advice to follow the old addage, all things in moderation.

I respond to a lot of threads here when I have a point or a joke to make. I don't have a lot of time to spend on this board so keeping it organized and concise helps people like me.

Don, I can see how this OT forum might seem like just a bunch of hostility to someone, but that can just be chalked up to the limitations of internet communication, ie. lack of nuance, etc...

As was pointed out by a moderator during the big "deleted thread" ordeal, there are a bunch of guys who seem to enjoy bashing heads here over politics and/or public policy issues. I sometimes wonder if any of the people who *see things differently* than me are taking this all personally, I'm certainly not. I enjoy a good argument, and have respect and a great deal of familiarity and affection for most of my brothers on the other side of the isle here. We are the thinking people of the world, Honda board antics like "Yo, biznatch, Bush and Cheney are dope" style arguments don't cut it here. Where else are you going to find people who read to fight with? Sure glad that I didn't buy that 'stang 5.0 instead of the 911 way back when.

The PIA was never publically revealed but I think a couple of other more frequent readers of this BBS knows who it was.

Where would this OT section be without commentary by Nostatic, 350HP930, Mark, Zeke and others? I enjoy watching people spin their heads with some of my political comments. I know that I am a gun toting unaplogetic conservative and I don't care what people think about ME, but I am interested in what THEY think about the topics.

Thank God (and there is one...see? There I go again) that Wayne has enough wisdom to let OT exist with a light touch on the moderator button.
