If you have Windows 2000 or XP go here (Sasser Worm check and fix)
This worm hit hard this morning. You can go to Microsoft's PC check to see if you're infected. If so it will remove.
Go here and scroll to the center of the page. Click on "Check my PC for infection"...... http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp If you havent't updated all security patches go to www.microsoft.com and do so.

I'm so sick of these viruses. Next machine I get is either going to be a Mac or Linux based.

I hear ya. I'm very reluctant to hook-up my new home PC to the net. This is such bull$hit.
I read recently that a slow PC was checked because it was running very slowly. It was scanned using a commercially available virus scanner, Spy Sweeper and Ad Aware. It was all clear. What they didn't get was a 2.5 gig file containing personal info that was growing. In other words there was a trojan horse type program running undetected.
