Howie is cute! Is he a doodle? Bosco loves to tree squirrels.

I used the water to wash my hands, but not the fungus blower to dry my hands. Yuk!

Edit: especially when it’s upside down.

Yep, Howie is a Labradoodle. I might have to go to the "dog" thread and tell about him there, but he is cute for sure as you say.

If I were a tractor, I wouldn't turn my back on that thing!

The amount of talent, artistry and craftsmanship in many pre 1960 homes always amaze me...
Since then homes have generally been all about speed and economical builds.

Just back from another dose of therapy, Ross Lake.... again!

This time of year it's become a happy habit going up into that area.
Always an adventure with a changing cast of characters over the last 20 years.
The stalwarts have been moi, (best buddy of 47 years now) Steve, my son, his buddy Luke and 2 other spots (limited by campsite capacity and then Ross Lake Resort cabin capacity).

One of my Son's earliest trips

This year was different, and I knew it was coming... neither my Son or his buddy (and almost 2nd Son) Luke couldn't make it up from LA. Both are working in the solar panel installation industry and are limited in time off.

They have focused their time off climbing mountains and chasing girls...

Priorities must be established then re-established, I missed them a lot, but I'm happy with where they are both headed- Luke's engaged to a smart beautiful and strong young lady about to become a Dr and Aaron's dating another that's working toward becoming a therapist.
Lord knows I could use a lot of therapy, I'll just keep getting doses this way.

This trip was just Steve and I, we opted to not do 3 nights of camping prior to 2 nights in the floating cabins on the lake. Gave us some time to work on his Gazebo build and my hernia...
First step is a 90 minute drive to the parking area and dock, lug all yer stuff down the steps to stage, then on the ferry boat that takes you to the base of Ross dam.

Offload yer junk onto another dock, then up onto a flat bed truck to gain the 500' up onto Ross lake.

Offload from the truck to the dock, onto another boat and off you go.

Ferry boat ride on Diablo

This guy puts up with my inane desires to use every camera system I can get my hands on, yup that's Steve

He's a heck of a deck/dock hand

View from the cabin

The guy driving is the new owner of RLR Andy, dam good reason he's smiling... he's been coming up there as long as I have and had the wherewithal to buy it when the previous long time owner (Tom) decided to retire.

Waiting at the base of Ross dam for the ferry headed back

A few more from the UP Quincy copper mine:

The cable spool to pull up the material carts.
It was fixed inside the building so there must have been only one main shaft which extended a ways.

Visitors trolley.
The gift shop was full of every type of beautiful rock you'd every want. No pics of that.

Working conditions were probably not great for those poor Finn immigrants.
