^Great capture!^

After my son rebuilt carbs on his '73 Honda CB350F a few years back I told him... get those synced before you go anywhere, seems he felt like it was running great... he did get about 40 miles before I got a call.
Before you know it I had a new piece of wall art, the piston of lean

Hmmm, I thought the depth of black in the pistons hole might qualify?
No?

OK to try again?

I probably just saved 3 minutes scrolling through the Random Transportation thread. There must have been a car show.

And now for something completely different:

Wish I still owned it.

Channeled my inner Byron and went bicycling Northward on our local trail.
Very classic scenery mix of residential to industrial to City to rural and back again.

Hour long round trip ride is the perfect length to reach a little old gas/grocery store and portable pit stop.
Into the wind on the way, with it coming back. That's rare!
Normally other way around.

So lucky to have this free entertainment/workout option just down hill from home!

The recent heat wave up here was way, way hotter than I've experienced in over 50 years of PNW living... a bit of serendipity kicked in and we re-planed a coast trip to happen sooner, off we went down to the southwestern most bit of the state, the Long Beach Peninsula.
Saw 104-110 degrees on the auto thermometer on the way.
Right as we got to the beach it was down to the high 80's.

We had not explored much of that area, couple years ago we went to the Northwestern most bit of Oregon an it was spectacular!
Old ship wreck, Ft Stevens the mouth of the mighty Columbia, Pelicans feeding in droves, Elk wandering around, etc.

The Washington side of the Columbia is pretty amazing too, also with old forts, lighthouses, and many, many miles of beautiful beach line to wander.

One bummer, the cape Disappointment Lighthouse was closed to the public, just living up to it's name I suppose.

First walk South from where we stayed revealed dead stuff!
Ex Porpoise

Ex Fur Seal

Whale bones

Next morning the marine layer was back to visit, turned out to be virtually the only place in the state to drop into the 60's and 70's that day.
North Head Lighthouse

Heading North again, loving the cool clean ocean air

Left handed Limpet

Long jetty at the mouth of the Columbia, North side

Fort remnants at the Lewis and Clark interpretive center

Going to need a full re-skin, not going to buff out

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse

Off to the Northernmost bit of the Peninsula, Leadbetter point, my wife has it set to full boogie outrunning the mosquitos

That's a faux lighthouse... a very rich dude managed to get it built on a water tower structure, the only way he got away with building something so tall out on the edge of the park and nature reserve. Color me jealous!
He now wants to turn it into an exotic get away.

Beach time always makes this beautiful woman happier

As does finding treasure

About a mile and a half of ever changing trail out to the beach, in the woods at times, out in low dunes at times

Back south halfway where you can drive on the beach, no problem finding a nice stretch of beach to have lunch using the car as a wind block

Flew and crashed the kite a bit

Back to the hotel to take the cruiser bikes that are included with the room for a ride. Crappy, crappy bikes for the 8.5 mile paved trail that runs along L&C's route through the low dunes... should have brought ours as gears would have been helpful

Spent a little time kvetching with Clark about what a handful Lewis was, "my bedroll is too lumpy", "my feet hurt", "the dog tastes terrible"
He was happy to wander off on his own at times for some peace and quiet.

He liked my shades, proof Raybans are timeless

Joan's reaction when I said Hey! get that gun away from him!

She tried, he wouldn't let her shoot it... even after I let him try on my shades- Pioneers!
