Cicadas!!!

Anyone seen the cicadas yet? I saw a whole bunch this morning. Mostly the dead ones on the sidewalk and plenty of skins. For the past couple of days I have seen a lot of holes in the mulch where they must have crawled out from. I'm just outside of DC, what's it like in your area???

Nothing yet here in Indy. They say the soil tempature has to reach 64 degrees before they pop out of the ground. I have read that an hour south of here, Bloomington Indiana, is supposed to be the epicenter with about 1.5 million cicades per acre showing up. Yuch!

Here in southern ohio(cinti.) no sighting in mass. It's warm enough now so it can't be long. Randy

They only come out once every 17 years. So of course it's big news.

I knew it! Joeclarke and I agreed one too many times and now we have the plague of locusts (ok, cicadas, but they're about the same thing). Other signs are sure to follow.

Repent! The Apocalypse is at hand!

Come to California, here the temps have risen and hot women are comming out to the beaches and clothes are comming off. I have no idea what the insects are doing here and I don't care either.

I hear they (cicadas, locusts, grasshoppers etc) are delicious when deep-fried (?)

We didn't have the money for them this year. CA cut them out of the budget.

One more reason I don't miss living anywhere other than CA - no bugs. Say what you will about the traffic, the smog, the overpopulation, the cost, and the pretentiousness, but I'll take all that for the luxury of being able to lounge around outside 365 with absolutely NO worry of ants or mosquitos (OR Cicadas)
