SRISER, I'm with ya, but what about Fundamentalist Jews? Seriously curious. Do they have an expressed reason to ignore these rules or what? I just have a serious curiosity, not trying to stir a pot.

Were they thought to hit me if they see me just because I don't have their same beleifs?

Or is it in revenge for something I did so long ago that I don't remember?

That i sall I want to know

Finally something that is simple to answer. We are enemies of Islamic nations because of our support for Israel. It is that simple.

Thank you moses - So what's the deal with the Israel and Islam? My understanding is that Jews are on the Palestinians land.

Who's land is it?

Simple. . . It the Africans land.

The Africans were the first people on this big blue ball, third from the sun.
Therefore the Africans own all of the world.

The big kicker, though, is we are all Africans!

Fascinating. Pre WWII it was Palestine. Largely populated by nomadic Arabs with local tribal governments.

After WWII and in recognition of the atrocities against the Jews in Europe the UN voted to create a new nation. So in 1947 Israel was created by the UN with great international support.

The Jewish community was divided on this issue at the time. The Old Testament suggests that only God can give Israel to the Jews (Gods promise to Abraham.) The pro-UN Jews (Zionists) believed that perhaps it was Gods intent that Israel be returned to the Jews after all the suffering in Europe.

In short, the Jews have been driven out of Palestine (Israel) three times over the millenia. Modern Arabs are trying for a fourth.

(P.S. I have no dog in this fight. I'm not Jewish or Muslim, but I love history.)

wasnt the "piece of land" actually a big chunk of undesirable desert? and israel tamed it and made it inhabitable? plus in the old days there really wasnt a palestian, the people were nomadic, right? i only know what i read, but i admit i dont have a bullschit filter.

OMG! What hole did you crawl out of
Weren't you the one advising everyone that we need to get our heads out of our a$$es and read some non-western history/ media? I've been convinced this whole time that you were just totally naive and ignorant, but this pushes you solidly into troll/strawman territory. Give me a ******* break!

bigrubberjeep 05-13-2004 01:43 PM

Moses -So basicly what you are saying is, Palestinians want their land back since the UN does not have jurisdiction over them. And because we support jerusalem they hate us even more.

Tishabet 05-13-2004 01:44 PM

PS notice the use of "*******." I believe this draws us all full-circle to Porsche content

Not really. It was (and is) the holiest of lands for all Christians, Jews and Muslims. Never uninhabited. Always important. That's where the Jews ended up after being liberated from Egyptian slavery. (old Testament stuff.)

You cant recognice a sincere question when you read one.

Well...a lot. We were very influential at the end of the war. But remember, the Auschwitz pictures were still vivid in the minds of the world, the Nuremburg trials were underway. There really was international support for the creation of Israel.

bigrubberjeep 05-13-2004 02:13 PM

Moses - Thank you for your input, much better then history class in HS.

So why does the U.S. keep supporting Israel even after the creation of Israel? Because the way I see it, Palestinians (Muslims) should be upset with anyone that is part of the U.N. not just the U.S.

Actuall I already know the answer to that, Muslims do dislike the U.N. mebers - So why do we keep supporting Israel. Did we give anything to the Palestinians in exhange for the land or did they just get removed?

Glasgow 911SC 05-13-2004 02:23 PM

Bigrubber

Some light reading for you.

A tricky aspect to the Palestinian problem is the fact that many of the Jewish people who 'returned' to Israel did so with a hundreds of years old religious claim to the land. It's understandable that the people that already lived there resented being made refugees. I know I wouldn't fancy having a 3rd or 4th generation Scots/American decide he can just come back here & boot me off my land, due to the fact his relations were Scottish.

It was not originally intended that the local Arabs "Palestinians" be relocated at all. The plan was peaceful co-existance. Didn't work out that way. The Palestinians were quickly relocated to refugee camps in Jordan and Syria.

Some people like Jimmy Carter have attempted a "land for peace" exchange where the Palestinians get the West Bank and the Gaza strip. That may or may not solve the Palestinian problem, but now that is just a small part of the Israel/Arab conflict.

Syria, Jordan, Iran, Iraq and many other nations have pledged to "drive the Israelis into the sea". Israel is strategically indefensible without US $. This is a complicated mess!

At the risk of breaking up the (informative) history lesson. . .

U.S. intelligence officials have concluded that terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was the person shown on a video beheading an American civilian in Iraq, based on an analysis of the voice on the video, a CIA official said Thursday.
