Money guys: Best, safe place for short term place to put money?

I need to stick a considerable amount somewhere for 45-60 days. Any direction on where I can put it, get a decent return, and withdraw with no penalties?

About the highest money market rate I've found is Ing Direct, which offers 2% on a savings account. It's easy to open an account and easy to transfer money to and from your bank's checking account.

2%, yuck. Maybe I'll just call the media up, go to Las Vegas and put it all on red. Worked for that other guy.

I know a guy who travels to and from Columbia, very nice return, maaaaybe penalties if everything goes well.

Hehe, sorry to make jokes on a more serious toned thread, couldn't resist.

Yeah, me too...I want federally guaranteed, 9%, check writing for free. No penalties. I sure WANT that. I also WANT to be the holder of a winning powerball ticket...chasing after return? The risk increases with the promised (often only suggested) rate of return. Sorry, but that's just the way it works.

adam, is that 5.25 a CD account? if you are getting that what is prime rate currently there for say a home loan? must be higher than the all time lowest rates we are experiencing here in the states.
