Speeding Ticket in Wa. state.
Sigh.
Got a 35 in a 25. (backroad) 100 Bucks. Does anyone know how many points that is? Can I opt for trafic school? I don't care about the money, but don't want my insurance to go up. Over 30, last ticket was 6+ years ago. Thanks

Points
My guess is TWO points, since Full 10 over 1-9 is ONE point in Michigan, Invest in a Valentine One Saves me EVERY day.

Washington state doesn't do points, but your insurance company may simply no longer offer Safe Driver deduction. Hard to know, but I am sure that Superman will pipe up on this one...

If you are not from Washington then no points, that is true for Ohio, KY and many other states. I got a 20 over in MD (rental car) and was worried I would get points but I checked the BVM and they said no for out of state fines.

You bet your bippy I'll chime in here. But I'm not as informed as I'd like to be. I got a ticket on the freeway last March, and ultimately took a deferral, which keeps the ticket off my record as long as I do not get another one for twelve months after the hearing. I'm trying, and have a few months to go.
I have heard that, with non-WSP tickets, there may be a traffic school or some similar program that can keep this ticket off your record. I don't have time for my usual its-not-about-safety...its-about-revenue rantings, but someone suggested you get a V1. Do that, but be also aware that just about any dopey vehicle with dark glass could be an Aggressive Driver Unit, just itchin' to give a ticket to someone even if they have to piss you off in order to get you to do something aggressive. The WSP used to be quite a high-performance organization. Gotta feel sorry for all those well-trained professional troopers out there that have been demoted from being peace and safety enforcers, to speeding-ticket-writers. None of use are safe. There is no longer a correlation between dangerous driving and receiving tickets. Their agenda is "point and shoot."

Well I live in Washington state (East side) and have found the use of a "ticket lawyer" quite effective. I drive more than most people and I am typically drivng a red BMW or a red Targa. hence I seem to attract tickets. Simply put a ticket lawyer takes your ticket meets with the district attorney and get the ticket reduced to a non moving violation. It cost more money than the face amount of the ticket but saves me big time over the long run. Additionally it jsut so happens that I got a ticket today for 5 over in a construction zone! WTF?? And they say red cars dont attract attention. Anyway the face amount of the ticket is $97.00 add in $250.00 for the ticket lawyer and it will usually go away. This is of course if you were not rude or comabitve during inital police contact. How many times can you do this? Well my bro has done it "numerous" times with all successes. I have done it multiple times with no problems. While I am not condonging erratice or dangerous driving in any way but the simple mathematics of how much I am on the road puts me at greater risk for tickets. Couple that with our states lack of revenue and you get ticketed for 5 over! just me 2 cents good luck. Incidently my cousin in the Seattle are has done it also so I know it works there too.

Choices:
1) Pay ticket and live with it on your record. 2) Deferral is definitely an option. (Superman is correct) 3) Fight the ticket and hope for the best. (Remember...a person who represents himself has a fool for a client) 4) Get a lawyer and fight the ticket (Bravo is correct)

Deferral allows the ticket to defer from being applied against you for one year. If you do not receive another ticket within that year, then the ticket drops off and never is applied against you. End result, the ticket is not on your record after one year. This is only available if you have not had a ticket within the last 3 years, I believe.

Seven is probably right, I have never done this myself, so I am not positive.

Sigh... redux.
Mobile tax collector strikes again. 70 in 60 - $113 Insurance goes up ~20$ every 6 months for 3 years. Time to put a restrictor plate on the ol' 997S.

Bummer. I usually stay in the right lanes and stick to the limit when driving the 911.
In my Chevy pick-up, I'm usually going a tad faster, using the left lanes. I've never had a radar detector, but the truck is pretty invisable to law enforcement. |

This should be invisible... his car was the same color, and I didn't see him.
